as i said im getting tired of the anger and frustration ,about 8 months in not getting any better not getting any worse , still weak in all the same places ,still frustrated at all the same things . i know the signs ,my beloved knows the signs ,she just avoids me ,which im fine with she knows misery doesn’t need company and when im in a mood i prefer solidarity till i snap out of it ,and she just leaves me to get on with it ,we have been together long enough to know each others moods
i just feel as though i want to go out and roar at the world
yeah this is me haaving a pity party

Hi all,
My mum, aged 77, is now almost 10 weeks since her massive stroke. It’s been a very tumultuous journey with a few significant set backs: pneumonia, UTI, urine retention and at the moment she’s in severe pain from a peg insertion 4 days ago (she’s on morphine). It seems that whenever she reaches a level where she improves quickly something happens that literally causes her to be bedridden. Nonetheless she’s being referred to a stroke rehab unit at level 2.
Can anyone offer any advice on what I need to look out for between now and discharge? I’ve spent the last 10 weeks chasing up medical ..read more

For many (me included), memories of university revolve around questionable nights out and adrenaline-fuelled study sessions taking place in the early hours before an assignment is due. However, stroke survivors (me included) are likely to face unique challenges, adjusting to life away from home and navigating the neon-lit allure of societies, seminars and social events.
In this post, I wish to create a mini survival guide for young stroke survivors who are thinking about going to uni. Having had a stroke aged 4, leaving me with right-sided hemiplegia (not the best parting gift in the world ..read more

Hi everyone. This may indeed be in “bad taste” but I would like to see if anybody has a similar symptom. I am 8 weeks post stroke, have little residual weakness, just the terrible fatigue. However for some weeks now I have had a nasty taste in my mouth - metallic/bitter - it is worse after eating, doesn’t go away after teeth brushing, gargles etc. I also feels as if I have a ball of mucus in my throat all the time. Has anyone else experienced similar? Is it a consequence of the stroke or should it I be looking for another cause?
