Was hiking in Central Ontario on the weekend and spotted a mother bear bear and 3 cubs. One was blonde. How rare is this? Should I report it?

I purchased a brand new shotgun (Stoeger M3500) a few days ago.
After shooting 5x 3" turkey shells, andt then 1x 3.5" turkey shell, the gun sorta jammed. It was impossible to fully rack the pin, something is blocking it. I took the gun apart as if to clean it, but I couldn't fix the problem. It seems to be internal since something is rattling inside.
My question is this:
I want to bring it back to the shop (Dante's in Montreal) so they fix, replace, or re-imburse me. Do they have the obligation to do so since the gun was fresh out of the box a few days ago?
Or will they tell me send it to the ..read more

Friendly reminder that the Ontario Elk draw opened up earlier this week. It looks like it's still the same 3/8 hunt areas that are available to apply to.
Any idea when the number of tags will be announced for the 2024 season? It looks like they have been trending downward with only 4 being issued in 2023.
Anyone here successfully hunted elk in Ontario? How did it go?

Does anyone know of good reasonably priced gunsmiths in Montreal? A modified choke is stuck in my shotgun that I need removed.

Apologies if this is a braindead question, but this sub is my go-to place for those at the moment! My question is pretty simple; would it be "stupid" to carry my shotgun for animal protection while scouting a new hunting spot? I found what looks to be a good area up near my cottage in the Algonquin Highlands, but it's about a kilometer back into the forest. I know there's wolves and bear there. Would I be dumb for carrying? I know that it's technically legal, since it's crown land.

hi all
this may seem like a dumb question, but still a question nonetheless.
i live in WMU that does not allow RIFLE hunting. only shotguns and muzzleloaders/bows.
My questions is, if i have and own a non-restricted RIFLE, am i allowed to discharge it on my own property? Say target shooting. Even though my WMU does not allow rifle hunting?
