December 21, 2023: Michigan State destroyed the Stony Brook Seawolves Thursday night at the Breslin Center 99-55. The final score doesn’t even do justice to the game as the Spartans led 48-12 at the break with suffocating defense. They held Stony Brook to 29% from the field and 19% from 3 for the game. The night was highlighted by Jaden Akins scoring a career high 22 points and Xavier Booker chipping in a career high scoring and rebounding effort with 11 and 7 respectively. December 19, 2023: Michigan State will host the Stony Brook Seawolves on Thursday at the Breslin as the last game before their Christmas break. We are fast approaching the Big Ten season and this will be the last of two ‘tune ups’ for the Spartans. Stony Brook, like many of these matchups against smaller schools should serve as an opportunity for MSU to work on itself and allow players chances to grow and learn. December 18, 2023: Michigan State cruised to a comfortable 79-62 win over the visiting Golden Grizzlies from Oakland at the Breslin Center Monday night. Tyson Walker scored 14 which gave him over 1000 points as a Spartan to go along with his 1000+ points at Northeastern. MSU controlled the game comfortably about midway through the first half and built a 20 plus point lead early in the second over an outmatched Oakland club. December 14, 2023: MSU continues its usual gauntlet of non-conference matchups as it faces #7 Baylor in Detroit on Saturday. The Bears are undefeated and boast the #2 offense in the country. Defensively they’re not bad either clocking in at #62. In contrast, Michigan State is still reeling from an 0-2 Big Ten start and multiple problems in their lineup. December 10, 2023: Michigan State once again has trouble getting the offense going when it counts and falls to Nebraska 77-70 in Lincoln. Despite leading by 3 with the ball and under 5 to play, MSU went 1 for its last 8 shots down the stretch and fell to 0-2 in the Big Ten to start the season. Malik Hall played well with 22 points and 7 rebounds but didn’t have enough help. December 8, 2023: It's no secret that Michigan State's basketball team is reeling. After a summer of high expectations, the team has been largely disappointing in not developing into the title contender most had expected. Although the team has shown a lot of times of promise, those times are often sandwiched between unimpressive offensive performances. December 5, 2023: Michigan State drops its opener to the Wisconsin Badgers at home, 70-57. The game was disappointing on so many levels. The Spartans were out rebounded, out shot, and generally out hustled all over the floor. Purdue lost its opener in Evanston to Northwestern which is exactly what happened to the Spartans last year (although it was at home). November 30, 2023: On Tuesday evening, Michigan State played the Georgia Southern Eagles from the Sun Belt Conference and did exactly what we hoped they would do - win easily. This game was really never in doubt but there were definitely some very interesting story lines that came from the game.
