I'm looking for any information anyone could provide on a Saxon-born French general named Jean-Armand de Dieskau who died in Suresnes, Hauts-Seine, France on 8 September 1767. I contacted the La Société Généalogique Canadienne-Française’s Project Montcalm database in Quebec, their database contains no record of the general’s death certificate in their registers. I'm truly hoping someone with more resources can help. My contact information is: (email removed) Thanks in advance. M ..read more

Trouble editing, "San Buenaventura. Baptism Records"

Regarding https://www.familysearch.org/ark%3A/61903/3%3A1%3A939X-XH3F-6Q?view=index&action=view (digitization of FHL film 649403, first volume on film, image 215 of 373)… The christening-dates are all indexed as 1869. They should be 1669. I'm able to fix that. Many names are misindexed. That's understandable: the records are handwritten, the writing is faint in places, some scribal abbreviations and archaic spellings are used, and the names themselves are short. One thing I note in several places is that "Juº", which I believe represents "Juan", is indexed as "Julio". But I'm able to fix ..read more

Family Tree Place Name Standardization Routine has gotten to inflexible

This is similar to a previous report with Hungarian places but I want to provide another example of a wrong turn the routine has taken. I am working on the record for a Guri Gundersdatter born in 1861 in Nore municipality in Buskerud county in Norway. She was christened at Uvdal church. I can enter her christening place with the general place Nore, Buskerud, Norway just fine. A proper standardized version is present in the Places database so I can just use this. It is Nore Buskerud, Norway - Place type: Municipality - Timespan: 1858 to 1962. However, I wish to use the more specific place name ..read more

The Place has been standardized as Myanmar instead of New Zealand in records

This is a follow up from the question I've asked about a week ago: The Place has been standardized as Myanmar instead of New Zealand in records — FamilySearch Community Thanks to your help, most of the places error that was recorded as Myanmar was corrected as New Zealand. However, we are still seeing some records, on thumbnail, that are showing Events place as Myanmar. It should be New Zealand. I believe many of the records are still affected by this place error in this collection. Could someone help us to correct this place error? Thank you. https://familysearch.org/search/record/results?f.c ..read more

Any chance someone knows where I can get Family Search table covering, brochures, pamphlets, other little goodies to give to visitors at county shows? I have group sheets and pedigree charts, but really need items to hand out to people when showing at county and library shows. I feel it would inspire more people to make accounts, get involved, and enjoy learning about their family history. Thank you for any assistance! ~ Jaunna Batty; Blytheville Branch, AR ..read more

Will the ability to restore multiple /separate FamilySearch pages ever be reimplemented?
FamilySearch Community

Some months ago I reported the loss of the previous ability to restore separate FS (specifically Family Tree) pages that had been left when I had closed my browser. I would be grateful if a moderator could pass the question to the appropriate team, as my question remains unanswered - i.e., was the change was by accident or design? For example, I closed my browser without logging out of Find My Past earlier today. I had two tabs open and, upon signing back in (to FMP) the two separate pages opened without problem. This was the case with FamilySearch previously, but now if I leave multiple tabs ..read more
