DAB+ Radio Receiver Power Usage

I have a small DAB+ radio - Imperial Dabman 13 - and it uses about 500mW of power when tuned to a DAB+ station played on low loudspeaker level. It has a 800mah battery, about 3Wh, so the battery life is around 6hrs, theoretically. I write this info because I've also tested some very low power FM radios and a Pixel 6 while streaming radio. The DAB+ radio doesn't use much power - about the same as a Pixel6 in it's lowest power state. However, it uses over 10x the power of a small, cheap FM radio. E.g. Sony ICF-P26 which I wrote about here: https://www.reddit.com/r/FMRadio/comments/19es9bp/the_m ..read more

Hey All! I (24 y/o) recently started work for a non-profit radio station that plays Americana Grassroots music. I'm an assistant for the station's development team. My job mostly has been to update the radio station's Shopify, help with updating merch and graphics on socials, and keep the donor database organized. The general manager is seeking to kind of freshen up the station's look, social media presence, outreach, etc. They are looking to grow their audience, since most listeners are in the age range of about 50s-70s. We are waiting to hear back about a social media/marketing audit from a ..read more

(very sorry for the long post. I struggle to keep things concise.) I am in my mid-20s and was a hopeless optimist. Music, production, working behind a microphone, and a great talker: all roads led me to radio, since I don't have a talent for instruments and the singing voice of a strangled chihuahua. I loved working in my college radio station and later leading it, so I was thrilled to have gotten a job with the best radio company in the country immediately after graduating. In the traffic department. I've let the current company I work for take advantage of me for far too long. No raise in t ..read more

In my spare time I made software to manage the commercials on my radio station. It enables me to upload commercials, enter the deals I made, makes an advertisement schedule and generates complete commercial breaks. I'm thinking about opening it up to other radio stations as I got some requests from the radio community. What are your thoughts on this and what do you consider a fair financial compensation / monthly fee? Thanks! submitted by /u/Floop1E [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Folks, I’ve tried hard to be a good participant of this sub. I’ve even offered to help because it seems there is only one actual mod in this sub, and they’re not very active or diligent in keeping this sub on-topic. Everytime I’ve offered to help, I’ve been turned down. Off-topic posts about walkie talkies, car radios, etc. continue to plague this sub and I’m tired of it. Many folks would say “just leave” or “go make your own sub.” Well, I did just that. I invite you all to join me over at r/RadioPros. The sub will be focused on the discussion of the AM/FM, satellite, and digital/online radio ..read more
