Do you have a four foot rule?

My state has a four foot rule, where drivers have to give bicyclists four feet of space when passing, and only pass when they can do so safely. Of course, many don't! And as I was out riding this past weekend, there were some crazy drivers who almost drove into oncoming traffic because they couldn't stand waiting on a bicycle. Cyclists are permitted to ride on the shoulder, if it exists, but we don't have to. And in many cases, I prefer to ride in the road rather than on a sketchy shoulder. How about you? Do you find motorists give you plenty of room when passing or do we need to do a better ..read more

Cycling in the Wind
BikeRide Forums

The weather is finally warming up where I live, but we're still having lots of windy days. I find that riding when its really windy wears me out much faster than on calmer days - can anyone relate? Is it my state of mind or is it really that much more work? I was also wondering if different bikes handle the wind better? Say an aerobike verses a gravel bike with slicks? What are your thoughts ..read more

Pull picture up in your Photobucket page in new tab and have BicycleTutor open in another tab in your browser. Look at the cursor in Pic #1, this is where you get the link code drop down menu. Look at the cursor in Pic#2, this the image link, when you click that it will copy the image url, now open your bicycletutor tab and when posting, just click and paste the url in your thread or post and it should show up as a picture after completing your post ..read more

Rear hub issue
BikeRide Forums

I have a 10-year-old 105 rear hub, and one of the pawls is acting up, I cleaned it and relubed the hub pawls but it still won't engage as fast as it did, like one of the pawls isn't working. I think it might be time to get a new hub. I would like one that engages faster but don't want to spend the money for something like the DT Swiss hub, what recommendations do any of you have for a hub? Or is there some sort of repair that could be done that I don't know about? I'm riding on Shimano components with a 10-speed rear cluster and rim brakes. Thanks ..read more

Best "sole vehicle" ebike for short rider, under 28" inseam

Hello, I have been searching for almost a year now for an ebike that can be my only vehicle. I live in a rural area, far from shopping and friends. That means even my shortest trip will be at least 30 miles round trip, more often 50 miles round trip with no chance of charging before heading home. To visit friends, it is at minimum 40 miles one way, and I want to travel even further to go to events. The terrain here in upstate NY is hilly and I must climb some steep hills to get home at the end. There are a few routes that require going over washboard dirt roads for about 2 miles but the rest ..read more

Cannondale Transport Fork Mount Rack for Truck
BikeRide Forums

I picked up on market place the Cannondale Transport carrier for my 82' F150. Nice basic fork mount set up for two bikes. built solid but lacking in security features. It came with standard wheel skewers so I replaced them with Delta brand skewers that take a special key to tighten and loosen. This improvement alone makes it very difficult to steal the bikes. And to deter removal of the rack its self I installed nuts to lock on the spin knobs to make it hassle to remove by hand without tools. I have had hundreds of dollars wrapped in roof racks in the past. I have a 2 bike hitch mount rack tha ..read more

Gravel Bikes for Petite Women
BikeRide Forums

My friend is looking for a new gravel bike. She's petite - like me - so she's having trouble finding something that isn't too big. I would love to recommend something like an Obed Boundary, but they just aren't available in a small enough size. Any suggestions for a 2x, carbon gravel bike? I personally ride my CX bike on gravel by swapping out the wheels and cassette, so something like that might be an option for her, too. Jamis used to have smaller women's bikes but their current lineup doesn't seem like it goes as small as it used to. Thanks for your help ..read more

State Bicycle Carbon All-Road

Hey, folks! Does anybody here have a State Bicycle Carbon All-Road? I'm just wondering if it happens to have mounts to upgrade it from a 1x to a 2x setup. I'm a Shimano girl so the SRAM setup isn't interesting to me at all. I'm really interested in getting the frame only and building it up myself. Thanks for your input ..read more

Hello guys Just bought a new pair of 700c hybrid wheelset with an inside rim width of 19mm. I have tried to fit schwalbe 700 x 40c tyres on them but the tyres just pop out from the rim when inflated. It seems to be a loose fit. Somebody please advise. Thanks ..read more
