This barred owl owlet was first seen out of the nest 3 days ago. Yesterday when I checked on him, he was on the ground and trying to get back up into a tree. He made multiple unsuccessful attempts. This one looked good but he had trouble with the smooth bark and eventually fell to of the tree again. I was really worried about him surviving the local predators overnight, but was pleased to spot him back up in a tree first thing this morning. Lighting conditions were a bit of a challenge on this shot. Z9, 800PF, 1/1000s. f/6.3, ISO 12800. Hand held Post: Slight crop for comp. Used Denoise AI i ..read more

I cropped the image a little more than desired for presentation reasons I also removed a few awkwardly placed twigs. I had not previously noted the "eye lashes" on these birds. Hi folks ... a Newbie for me :bg3: , that I am very happy with in general !!! The twigs might be not ideal , as is the super monotonic BG .... I would have liked a bit more tonal variation to be honest . The shot was taken at forest edge .... with the forest as backdrop , pretty far away . Very tricky to catch this fast hopping tiny little critter So things can be improved ... Canon EOS R 3 EF 500 IS L + 1,4 TC HH F 6,3 ; Iso 12.800 ; 1/2000 sec Processed with DT 4.7.0 and PSCC 2024 ; slight crop and removing of two twigs on RHS Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous postings Ch ..read more
