Healing. My story.

What are you healing from?  ↑ The most commonly asked question, after when is the house ready ;) Food and recipes have taken the backseat with you guys. I've naturally gravitated away to incorporate a wider scope, and I thank you for trusting me in the redirection.  Food and healing recipes was the be-all, my focal point when I began my health journey. Always keen to mend some form of stress-related disorder that had revealed itself, hippie lane was born from my passion to heal with whole foods. And what a humbling beautiful journey it's been.  I shifted gears, taking a hol ..read more

"Doing the work" and what that looks like for me
Hippie Lane

I've been a little quiet on the blog. I recognise part of myself that would go all self-critical about not getting blog entries through + / keeping up to date. I remember very well the pressure of deadlines, expectations and self-imposed demands, which was one of the very reasons I made the shift out. The shift out of productivity and achievement-based worthiness and found myself doing the work of finding more meaning, more truth, in my life.                                    &nb ..read more

NEW RECIPE - Kale Acai Bowl
Hippie Lane

Acai – you sexy thing! When I love something, I stick with it, but since reducing the amount of fruit / natural sugar I consume (hello almost-40’s), my smoothie game has really suffered. Nevertheless, cravings for my favourite at-home acai bowl did not abate, so I got experimenting and came up with a much-loved adaptation of my OG recipe. And it satisfies! Creamy, thick and super refreshing, this newbie hits the spot.    What did I do exactly? To reduce the sugar and up the veg, I swapped the banana for frozen kale and coconut, and added some quality seeds to giv ..read more

Keto Coco Choc-Berry Bombs

I have a thing for anything chocolate, coconut and raspberry, and since I've been home and in iso, I figured I need to have a stash of healthy no-sugar treats to prevent the inevitable sugar cravings and the subsequent post-treat blues. I like my treats high fat, low sugar 'cause the richer the treat, the less you need. I'm much more likely to be satisfied when I go consume treats that contain a dose of good fats. And as I work to balance my hormones and continue to manage my adrenal health, I need to be mindful of sugar consumption, so I've been going for keto ..read more

Cookie lovers club! Ok, so these have become my ideal mid morning treat. A 5-minute protein rich, natural low sugar recipe that everyone and anyone will love. With a few simple ingredients, these pair incredibly well with coffee / tea / chai / matcha and are just all-round amazing.   INGREDIENTS              1⁄3 cup (50g) teff or rice flour (oat flour works too)             ½ cup (90g) erythritol (I like Whole Earth brand)             ¼ tsp ..read more

Love-Myself Mindset

It's been a while. Welcome to the first blog of 2020 ✦?✩ Year one of the new decade. What an ideal time to start anew. My intention for now and for as long as I need, is to go beyond. Expanding BEYOND boundaries and stepping into empty space, the depths of the spirit. And I've welcomed it! I've been cocooned as I prioritise my intention over all else, proceeding to lean away from the mind and finding myself more grounded and present, within. This means facing more emotional downs, things long suppressed, allowing whatever arises to arise, and working through the difficulties, bi ..read more

My Kids Health. Our Journey.
Hippie Lane

I have been thinking about this topic recently, on my kids, their health and their nutrition and how it's changed and evolved since the early days.  I get asked a lot about what my children eat and how they stay keen for healthy gluten free, natural food. And specifically, a lot of questions about what they take with them to school in their lunchboxes. Seb is turning 10 in December, and Camille is 7 next week. I just can't believe how quickly that's gone by. Those who know me well know how much I enjoyed the baby phase. I openly mourn the days when they were tiny, chubby and all ..read more

When I come across something amazing, I can't help but share. This is how I feel a lot of the time. My need to share, with a goal to inspire and create positive change, literally drives me in my mission every day. My need to share was what inspired me to create and share recipes in the early days with Hippie Lane. When I'm asked what inspired me to birth and grow Hippie Lane, I always come back to this. My desire to help. My need to assist in positive growth. I just can't shake it. It fills me up, keeps me focused and motivates me to keep on going.   So you won't  ..read more

My Natural Ways to Fight Stress and Find Balance
Hippie Lane

I've been talking about stress, burnout, adrenal fatigue and their effects on me personally in previous blog posts, and the importance of putting your health first, tuning into your symptoms and expanding your awareness around what's right for you. It's been quite the road, my journey to here. I was talking with a friend recently, she asked me for my tips on slowing down, and what worked / triggered the change from go-go-go Taline of the past to the more chilled, surrendered Taline she knows today. I couldn't give her an answer right away. It sort of stumped ..read more

Inner Peace Exists. And it's not unreachable, I promise ✮☾

Through greater self-exploration and since taking the slow-er road, I've gotten more in touch with that inner sanctuary that I talk about. And I tell you, it's been life changing - in every way possible. I know now, through practice and inner observation, that there's a realm of peace within us that remains constant, despite what's going on in the external world, in our bodies and in our minds. This realisation, alone, excites me so much. Realisations happen in good timing. You have to be ready to notice. When I was in my 20's, where I was all about that non-stop go-go ..read more
