Hi, I'm a new member here, and this is my first post. I have a pair of budget speakers (the Microlab B77BT) that I use for music listening. One time, I played sinewave frequencies on these speakers to try to EQ for my room modes and I noticed something like this. For some frequencies like 87 Hz and 88 Hz, the speakers just sound the same, I can hear no difference. If that's not my ears, it must be that the speakers are not producing the correct frequencies (or maybe the room acoustics). My... Read more ..read more

Hi! I'm looking for a compact speaker for ~100 €, we would be better if it have bluetooth (i don't need integrated battery), but if it doesn't i can use my Qudelix 5k with it. I'll use it in my home gym, about 8 square meters. I'm currently using a Soundcore Motion 300 (20W), but it is starting to perform poorly ..read more

Alpair 10 full-range drivers into Frankenstein speakers

I got two Alpair 10 full-range drivers and plugged them into the woofer holes of old speaker boxes I took apart. I took the old tweeters out and left a big hole in the box. I thought these couldn't possibly sound good like this and put them in storage for a while. I just pulled them out and plugged them into an old Denon receiver and was pleasantly surprised by the sound. How is it possible this sounds half-decent? I guess this should go in the DIY sub forum ..read more

Apparently svs want to bring to the table something very good Their line are W-M-T-M-W, woofers are opposite and are always 4. 3 differents woofers size. 5,25'' x4 6,5'' x4 8'' x4 Crossover: 3-way crossover with premium-grade capacitors, inductors, resistors and heavy-trace printed circuit board Tweeter-to-Midrange crossover: 1.8 kHz Midrange-to-woofer crossover: 140 Hz To me that low crossover mean a serious bass woofer ... This is a review and detailed measurements of the accessory bass module for the JBL CBT J70-1 that I just reviewed. It was kindly sent to me by the same member and costs US $594. My sample is still sitting on the measurement gear so I thought I just show you the stock picture: Note that the 70JE-1 mounts on top, not bottom. I am not sure how stable it will be as the 70J-1 did not want to sit by itself all that much. So likely you need to mount these to a wall or... Read more ..read more

Trying to create a 2.1 nearfield setup for music listening on my PC. Right now I'm looking at the Edifier MR4 powered speakers ($180 CAD) and Yamaha 8" NS-SW050BL powered subwoofer ($200 CAD) but I don't think either have any crossover / sub output. Is it possible to set crossover on a DSP program like Equalizer APO? If not, then I'm also open to suggestions on different speakers or subwoofers that have would work together. Budget is like $500 CAD but I'm willing to go further ..read more

I have a pair of Monitor Studio Studio 6s that I bought in 1999. Perhaps over the years they are no longer as flat as they were originally . . . but they still sound great to me. How would I be able to tell if the drivers/crossovers were "worn-out" if there is such a thing ? TIA ..read more

Hello I have several questions and I would like you to help me. I have a gaming PC with RTX 4090 and I want 7.1 or 5.1 surround sound for video games and music. one friend has kali lp6 studio monitors for music production and mixing, but when we listened to hifi .flac music with his RME fireface audio interface, the sound was beautiful and clean, even the bass sounds great and detailed, now the other point is that I don't have any knowledge of sound with hi-fi speakers. and in the future I...
