Hi guys, from Aus and I am going to be shooting some pheasant soon. They are only found here on a few farms that breed them for hunters. I shoot a lot of birds but I am not sure what size shot would work for me. My guess is 6 would be good because 4s feel to heavy and 7 or 8s seem to light. Anyway keen to see what you US based guys who have plenty of pheasant to hunt use. BTW will be using my 20Ga with 7/8 ounce loads out of light mod and mod chokes (side by side) cheers and hello from...

Hey All
The older brother and I started pass shooting starlings when we were still at home. We had an open equipment shed on the place with back windows where we could see them approaching, step out, and blast them. He has progressed with his starling shoots by studying their habits and laying for them. We usually get in a good shoot or two in the spring and summer when nothing else is open. Has anyone else tried this? Pass shooting those weaving, speeding targets really get you ready...

I am looking to book a hunt with a full service guide who hunts wild quail only. I have not had any luck looking East of the Mississippi so would like to find one in the Western states. I will consider traveling to any state except CA due to their gun restrictions which would make it hard to travel there. Anyone have a good referral? Thanks ..read more

I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death, but I'd like to hear current views. I was grouse hunting in New Hampshire this past weekend with a group I don't often hunt with. I was surprised to see one of the hunters shoot a bird on the ground. That night we got into a discussion on the ethics of shooting a bird on the ground and I was taken back by how many hunters thought it was fine. The topic strayed to ducks, geese and turkey. Since I don't hunt the latter, I mostly listened and...

I found a 1500 acre alfalfa ranch where I can take my son hunting. Best of all it's private so we can still shoot lead shot at least this year. $50 for two roosters or three hens---that's probably the best we can hope for right now ..read more
