I went to a coin show and made a few buys that included a mint state Walking Liberty Half, A Civil War Token, and a pair of tokens, one from the Stork Club which was a famous night club in New York City, and the other from the Rexall Drug Store chain which were popular back in the 1940's and 1950's. On the Rexall token they are... A Walker And Other Things From The Coin show ..read more

Had to get a new laptop. as the old one finally gave up. I finally got to hunt some yesterday. I got a variety of things, from a giant “gold coin”, to a toy dinner plate. With a smattering of things in-between: a key hole plate, copper ring, knob of some sort with an eagle on it, gilded buckle, sewing machine part?, and some sort of ornate object. Got me a Legend

Had a Simplex for a couple years and really liked it, so this seemed to be a jacked up Simplex with multi freq and a few other enhancements so I sold the Simplex and am about to start with the Legend. After all these years I am still a pretty basic guy and don't care to dive into minutia of settings ,, Ace 400 is still my go to for most of my hunting [except in the water I use the AT Pro] I have a history of getting higher end detectors and not liking them, Equinox was the latest but in... Had a quick go at a spot that I think has been gone over pretty good. Old property now in the hands of the township. Couple of acres but a lot of it is gravel just below the grass. It doesn't help that the ground is hard as a rock. Did pop out a 1948 Rosie along with a button aomething that looks like part of a buckle, a little clad and some copper scraps. Nice day for a hunt though - cool and overcast. One little silver makes it all worth while ..read more

Four Recent Hunts

With the hot and humid weather my hunts have slowed down from the usual pace. Since the end of June, I've only been out four times for a total of eight hours and fifteen minutes. I've hunted the usual sport fields and the soil is bone dry. The four hunts produced some decent clad totals though......113 coins worth $15.85................20 pennies, 9 nickels, 38 dimes, and 46 quarters ..read more

I noticed a site where an old house once stood. I had been there before but it was pretty overgrown. But as I passed by I noticed it had all been cleared and mowed. Dug a few coins including a 1957D wheatie. Also a BUNCH of plumbing fittings. Probably from when the house was torn down, but the house was much older that these type of copper fittings - at least originally. These coppers sure rang up nice! Thought I was digging silver quarters and halves! Also brought homw a decent... Musta been a plumber ..read more

Was excited to find this large gold earring, haven't had many finds this year. Alas, is marked .925 and also dyadema Italy, so at least its quality jewelry. Other 2 rings are junkers but shows I still got what it takes to find em, also found half a dozen bottle caps and a couple nickels which each could have been a ring. Used my At Pro which I use exclusively for water detecting, I really couldn't ask for much more ,, It does false alot if the water gets rough. Also used my floating sand...
