This has been bugging me for years and have never been able to find a good answer
Tumbled some clad today and as usual
They came out like this (red patina)
No coppers mixed in
I know it spends but am curious if any one found a way for them not to come out like this.

I have owned well over a dozen different detectors but there is only one that I vowed to never sell. It was my second detector (first was a Tesoro Bandido) and I developed a love of metal detecting using it. It’s a Whites Spectrum XLT that I sent in to Whites 20 years ago to have the board replaced. We have a video of this find coming out at first I saw the Indian head wow 1863 most of the Indians I find are later.
Then I turned it over and saw the crossed cannons so we looked it up a civil war token this was a small open space field we were detecting that was my best find this weekend I hit a low tide river spot which I have detected before and found 2 mercury dimes and a V nickel and a buffalo.

So after owning a manticore for a few weeks I do like it but I find it disconcerting that pennies and dimes give me the same VDI reading. I remember when I had my minelab explorer SE I was always able to tell a penny from a dime. I wonder if I am doing something wrong here. Also, is there a designated room or thread here for the manticore??? I see most other detectors have their own chat thread. Am I just missing it ..read more
