Hey, guys! Contractors are beginning the lawn renovation this week, so sod should be installed late this week or early next week. I hope to get some guidance on what chemicals to put down, and when.
TTTF + KBG mix sod, LEED certified. Being installed with 18-24-12 slow-release starter fertilizer. Northern Kentucky (looks like Zone 6a). Sod will be installed on fresh topsoil.
So.. what else should I put down before/after the installation? RGS? Hydretain? CytoGro? Liquid Aeration? Do I need to worry about grubs or fungus? Tenacity?
I already have two soil tests on-hand and plan to do one once ..read more

Flood water tonight from 7:55p to 8:55p. Only was able to fill the back tonight as I have some concrete demo occurring in the front yard starting tomorrow AM. This was our last bi-monthly watering of the year until we pick back up again in April. Unfortunate because we still have a good 40-50 days of growing soil conditions.
Got my shipment of Prop and Bifen XTS today.
1 Gal - Prop
32oz - Bifen

I'm still leaning towards some sort of Fescue based on the node in the red circle. The other photos didn't help me much. I would post some of those photos in the Cool Season Lawns thread to see if anyone can ID it. It looks like you really need to sharpen your blade as well.
The seedhead on the stalk you circled looks like a dallisgrass seedhead.

Lesco at Lowe’s is more expensive than the YardMaster fertilizers.
I’ve used Flagship. I find it easy to spread. 3 lbs per 1000. That is actually the rate for all the YardMastery products. Whether it be Flagship or Prodiamine . (Dithiopyr is actually 4lbs/ 1000sqft).
I’ve had good results with it. But it’s not the only Fertilzer I use. In spring I use a starter Fert with low NItrogen. I used the YardMastery starter. Then I switch to Milorganite. In the heat, I use the Stress blend. K for turgor. Low Nitrogen not to push growth. In September I switch to Flagship.
Late October and November I u ..read more

About a month after seed down, the two test plots are looking good.
The Super Lawn 1 here:
This is the Barenbrug Turf Saver RTF:
The thickness of the Barenbrug is due to multiple overseeds to add more seed after some washout. I did add another round of seed to the ST1, but the density was initially better for the ST1 than the Barenbrug. Both look good with my preference being the ST1.

Hello TLF I've been lurking in this forum for the last year and have finally made an account to share my experience of renovating my lawn! I couldn't of have done it without your insight from the hundreds of threads I've read through though, so I want to thank you for sharing all the useful information on here I had a lot of pics to share but my Ring decided to delete everything stored so I will only have recent pictures..
I purchased my home with a 2600sq ft lawn at the end of 2018 in San Bernardino County and the lawn was just a mix of dying Bermuda, St. Augustine and a ton of weeds. Befo ..read more

I would agree that you should not add more phosphorus. Usually 2-3 lbs of N is fine for TTTF and Rye yards for the season.
I guess the question is does your shaded areas look worse or different from the rest of the yard? If they don’t look acceptable to you then adding a bit more N could be fine, but keep in mind it will be stressing the plant if we fertilize too much and water too much in shaded areas. I think you can see how it responds to a little bit of N and gauge it from the rest of the yard. I probably wouldn’t go over 1.5lbs on the season. This will be something you can monitor and se ..read more

Looks like the Jacobson version of the Toro 2000D reelmasters I used for a while. It'll be a lot heavier in the front than a greensmaster and the reels are a bit more of a pain to work on. Good price on it, and if it's anything like the Toro it'll stripe really really well since the cutting units are so heavy.
