Hello all,  Can anyone chime in on salary/compensation for IR PA. I am in Texas and about to interview for an IR position. I bring to the table 2.5 years of HemeOnc experience and 12 years (previous) of ultrasound tech experience. While it is not directly IR experience and I will require training, I feel that would be the case any time you change specialties. The company does offer profit sharing, but I have never experienced this so I don't actually know how that plays into it.  Please send all the thoughts ..read more

Does anyone have experience doing venous ablation procedures utilizing Radiofrequency ablation or VenaSeal. Any insight would be appreciated.       ..read more

Are there an PA's out there who are privileged in using moderate sedation, i.e., versed?  I've worked in IR for the past 14 years and there has been a lot of question whether to grant PA's privileges in using moderate sedation for procedures.  I'm looking for either articles, studies, or other PA's who can testify to having similar privileges.  Any support would help in me gaining the privileges.  Thanks ..read more

I worked in an Urgent Care Clinic for a few years and was able to challenge the Radiology Practical Technician (RPT).  This limited scope X-ray technician license is available in many States and was helpful in the Urgent Care Clinic for most common Chest xrays and extremities.  There are a lot of helpful study guides out there for the physics, positioning and anatomy.  Getting some “hands on” helps too!  Everything is digital today so learning to develop films is uncommon. Check with your individual State for licensing requirements. Mine was simply fingerprin ..read more
