Question about the air filter vacuum gauge

We recently purchased an RV with a cummins ISL 450/1250 Lb. torque engine. When we purchased it, the vacuum gauge read about 18 in. H2O, (still in green) and 25 in. H2O being the red and time to change. Not knowing how old the filter was, I replaced it. We took the RV out and drove about 300 miles and I went to check the gauge, and it is still reading about 18 in. H2O. Knowing that it is a cheap gauge, I don't expect it to be very accurate, but what is a normal reading after changing out the air filter? I am sure those little gauges are probably pretty cheap, so I may buy a couple more just to ..read more

After traveling 400 miles to view the eclipse, we headed home. Didn't get but 10 miles or so when water pump failed. Found a shop. Drove the Jeep home. Mechanic found cracked manifold along with the pump. Replaced all including hoses and belts to the tune of $2700. Picked it up and headed home. Got within 40 miles of home when I felt a shudder. Drove on about 10 or 15 but noticed fuel dropping quickly. Stopped at a Love's. Fuel pouring from underneath. Left it and went back to check next day (today as of now). Found loosened (spontaneously?) high pressure fuel line. Tightened and all is well ..read more

Onan 10K misdiagnosed at Cummins

Got an FC13 on our 2008 Onan 10K with 2655 hours. Took it to the nearest Cummins / Onan service center They took the MH into the shop, an hour or so later came out and said computer and rotor shot, you'll need a rebuild or a new generator, $13500 for new. $400 for the two hours We declined anymore work and finished our trip Reading up on others posting here on IRV2 about FC13, one guy, I wish I could remember who to thank him mentioned look at the brushes I ordered a set for $18 torn into the generator to get to the brushes, what job they are buried deep in the front left side of the gener ..read more

Hello All, I have a 2001 Monaco Knight with the ISB 5.9. I'm having an issue that once in a blue moon the fuel system will air lock and the engine will not start. Once I cycle the key and bleed the injectors it will start. I have fuel pressure at the filters but not at the injectors. Any ideas? Thanks ..read more

The Cummins owner/maintenance manual for the 6.7L ISB specifies the filter change interval as 75,000 miles, without a time interval. The Cummins quick reference document specifies it as every 3rd of 4th oil change which would be every 3 to 4 years, regardless of mileage. Wondering what others are using as the change interval. I have a 2021 Tiffin Bus going on its 5th DEF sensor replacement, this is getting to be very annoying, the last one was replaced just 2000 miles ago in December with what I believe to be their 7th generation replacement . Ok heres the chassis info.. 2014 ISL 9L, 90k miles, in a Fleetwood Providence History..... Last trip on our way home, we had a code 3226 FM 10 throw and a amber "engine" light came on. Ok thats a NOX sensor, Continued onward..... amber light goes out, continue 200 miles home, all seemly ok. Next trip out ran great and no lights/codes for another 200 mikes. Filled up with fuel, DEF was at 3/4 full, had a 2.5 gal plastic jug in the basement, Added/filled my DEF tank. 25 miles later, amber engine outline light came on and chiming at me. I’m looking into an engine annylizer for my Holiday Rambler Cummins 300. Seems to be a lot of selection. I had the motor home in a shop a last fall and they found the check engine dash light was out. Now I’ve repaired it and getting an on and off light. I would like to purchase a decent dependable annylizer to see what code or codes may be going on here.
