Hello, this is my first post here. I was late diagnosed in January and have since been on a long stretch of trying to get some help and support. I have been awarded ADP (Scottish version of PIP) for 3 years but the ESA benefit is being really tricky for me. I have been on ESA benefit for 3 months. Since then I had a health assessment on the phone to determine if I should be placed in the support group or work related activity group. I got a letter yesterday saying I've been placed in the... Here is something trippy. Elk love Tool. I don't know if it's the Fibonacci sequence in the bass and drums. But when I lived at the coast, I noticed that elk, specifically bull elk, and mothers with young, would come within 12 feet of my window whenever I played specific songs by Tool. I would sit on my bed and look into the eyes of massive bull elk. Smiling, singing, talking to them as they grazed on wildflowers. It happened nearly every time I would play the music. I cannot explain it... Read more ..read more

I was diagnosed with aspergers long ago, I'm 58 now. I went to a psychologist diagnosing myself with a personality disorder. He sent me to a lady neuropsychologist. I didn't know why I had to go to her. When she told me what she did, I lost it. It's only been the last year I told my family and am coming to terms with it ..read more

Favourite Metallica song

My favourite Metallica song. Groovy blues tinged, hard rock verse, melodic chorus (a bit emo, sign of the times lol), interesting arrangement, cool Kirk lead (as much as Lars allowed), proto trash can snare, badass high budget MTV rockstar video Don't know why Metallica are embarrassed about it, they never play it. Maybe they think it's a sellout, don't want the Chads and Stacey's at the shows or its not techy enough. Last song I loved before they lost Jason Newsted and... Read more ..read more

Don't know if this is just me, but since I self diagnosed 12 months ago, I have noticed friends/work colleagues that now 'appear' to be as being on the spectrum, but I don't know if they are aware, as they have not indicated it previously. I have this need/want to tell them, but I never do as after thinking about it I realised(after much rumination) that it would be quite confronting to be told/suggested that you are on the spectrum if you have a NT 'idea' of Autism. I hope i'm explaining... Read more ..read more

What kinds of things would unite citizens for a common cause?

It seems that in present times the citizenry of the U.S. is polarized over most things more so than in prior generations. I'm wondering about what kinds of things would actually unite the citizenry around a common cause. What kinds of things would the citizenry feel on a collective basis would be important enough to work together toward change? An example to illustrate the kinds of things I'm wondering about: The Pandemic? No. The citizenry was divided with opposing viewpoints on... Read more ..read more

Hi everybody I'm Timo from Germany and I've been diagnosed with Aspergers in February 2023, when I was 39 years old. Since then, almost everything has changed and keeps changing, like almost entire lack of feelings and (luckily I have to say) almost no social contacts anymore. Not sure why I registered here, but maybe I'll find something I can relate to, who knows. No idea if it's appropriate, but maybe "ask me anything"? Cheers, Timo ..read more

As some of you already know, a good friend of mine took his own life a couple of months ago. And it is still hitting me pretty hard. I am staying awake late at night with racing thoughts, and it is damaging my performance at work because I have been caught dozing at my desk by my boss earlier today. But my boss wants to help me work through this because I told her what was going on. I will be speaking with my therapist tomorrow afternoon. What can I do in the meanwhile? I am not at...
