Civilian Spouse Housing

My husband is active-duty enlisted and is applying for this OTS cycle. If he is accepted into OTS, we are trying to figure out where I will live. He hasn't gotten a full answer- or precise information- from leadership, but we are hoping that I am able to live at our current duty station while he finishes OTS and the following technical school. For any other prior-enlisted officers with a civilian spouse, what were the rules for when the civilian spouse had to move as well? The main reasons for this question are ensuring I have employment (we are a dual income household that relies on said dua ..read more

Applying for ITS

I made contact with my regional recruiter and they got back to me with initial steps, so I sent my questionnaire in, did the teams briefing as well as sending in another form for the BFM, but nothing back yet for about 2 weeks now (not sure if that is common). Am I allowed to start building my packet and such and requesting the AFECP thing people talk about, or do I need the recruiter to initiate something? I told my Chief my intentions already and was waiting to hear back from the recruiter before I ask to have a sit down with the Commander as I believe they do stuff for your account (just g ..read more

Enlist vs OTS as a 30 year old with a bachelors but no leadership experience

I want to join the Air Force ideally as an officer, but if I'm being honest with myself, at no point in any job I've had in the last 12 years have I been a leader or in a leadership position. Working in a neuroscience research lab in college I didn't really come up with my own research, but did what the PI suggested. I ran my own experiments, sure, and had 2 classmates that helped me out, but I wouldn't say I was leading them or that they reported to me Working as a phlebotomist in clinics and hospitals after that I just drew blood according to the doctor's orders. I worked with my coworkers ..read more

Family moving to you

If joining as an officer (active duty; no prior military), how soon can your family move to you/claim BAH at your first base? After graduating OTS or after tech school? I truly want to make this happen somehow, but I have a 2 month old, so trying to see if it’s even remotely possible to have them move after OTS. But I’m sure I’m not the only one with a similar situation. Not trying to get special treatment, just curious. Thank you in advance for any insight! submitted by /u/allyreneandrus [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I've tried several times now to submit my information for my AFCEP request for the link listed on the AFRS OTS site, but it keeps saying it can't process my request. I've double and triple checked that I have all the required information filled out as well. Has anyone else had this issue or have a work around for it? submitted by /u/Sol-Man66 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

SLECP-O Member Essay

Good Morning All, On the SLECP-O nomination worksheet there is the member essay "My Desire to Serve as a Commissioned Officer". Is this in addition to section 22 on the form 56 "What are your objectives and reasons for desiring an air force commission"? If so do these need to be distinct from each other? I can't seem to find any details on formatting, page or word limits/requirements, etc. I might just be missing where all the documents mention these things. Any guidance (links, personal experience, etc) would be immensely helpful. Thank you. submitted by /u/EliteCasual [visit reddit] [comme ..read more

I wanted to ask anyone who has applied for a Non-rated year where you knew you were going to PCS before being assigned a date for you to attend OTS. How did you obtain a letter and did that affect your ability to attend? Any and all post of your experience is greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/Due-Unit-3062 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

DD368

So to start off I am a reserve applicant for the boards and the DD368 is a conditional release. The case I had in MyFSS for my DD368 was closed last night. It's been in waiting since I started the case, waiting for the other half of the form to be completed if I was selected. With results being 2 weeks away for 24OTS02, could they know who is a select/non-select already? And could this might mean I'm a non-select? There was no notes in my case on why it was closed. submitted by /u/DARKSTAR088_ [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
