I thought I'd share this here as it's not nearly as widely known or discussed as the standard o-ring failures these machines experience.
TLDR;
If your BDB was manufactured between 2019-2022 there's a high risk of your steam boiler (water level) probes leaking
If you hear hissing sounds, you should seek OEM replacement probes and swap them out asap
If you cannot secure replacements, the probes can be serviced - but consider this a last resort
Background:
After approximately 2 years of ownership, I began to hear occasional hissing from my BDB. I knew this meant a leak, and didn't waste time o ..read more

I have a niche zero and begrudgingly a specialita I regret owning and upgrading as its finicky and espresso is too similar to the niche but really good, I use a 1zpresso for pour over but I want another end game grinder that offers the opposite of what the niche does is it worth it? Idk if I’ve experienced true clarity. Also on a separate note would I be able to get decent results with light roasts on an e61 HX without flow control? I saw a video from the wired gourmet saying it’s worth ditching anyway as you can just cycle the pump to preinfuse the puck, normal pulls, turbo shots or slayer l ..read more

Side note. I’ve only ever used a single boiler machine and I make two espressos about 4 min apart from each other and then steam milk separately for both. Whole process takes about 20 min. Do you lose any flavor in that resting period?

Has anyone have any issues of wearing the inserts faster or damaging them with the normcore bottomless portafilter? I have been seeing some post to not buy them and instead go for the breville brand.
If anyone has any recommendations for this model, feel free to post them on the thread as well. Thanks!

Hello! I’m on Facebook looking for a basic machine to buy for a friend. I stumbled on this breville one and can’t seem to figure out what model it is. The box says duo temp but I used to own one and think that is clearly wrong.
Any tips or knowledge?

I've looked at the wiki, I've watched way too many reviews, read r/espresso daily, and I still can't decide. It feels like every good review has a bad review. Let me throw out some details about my household:
Coming from a Breville Touch that kicked it after a descaling (under warranty but I'm 100% over that stupid system)
Honestly, no more than 3-4 cups a day in the household
Primarily milk based drinks
What is the point of diminishing returns with espresso machines? Am I going to notice a big difference between a $1700 and a $3k? I'm currently looking at the Profitec Pro 600, ECM Synchron ..read more

I just received an email from Clive coffee about a 20% off sale on their in store stock of Mara X and Bianca’s. If you’re in the market, you might want to check them out. I don’t know all the details so this is just fyi.
