My dog is nearing 11 months and at her estimated heigh/weight. She's fixed and displaying a lot of those signs of "maturing". I'm looking to transition her to a good salmon kibble within my budget. Currently she's on purina pro salmon and lamb (she alternates for variety). She's starting to get a bit boredof her food so I thought this would be a good time to transition. I supplement her kibble with toppers. What are some brands that would be around the same price or cheaper than Purnina Pro? Purina Pro has been decent and we tried some other foods as a puppy that she didn't do that great with ..read more

Best dog food for pits?

What are some of the best brands on the cheaper side for pitbulls? I’m starting to add more organic meat, fruits, veggies, and other supplements , but I still want to get a better brand of kibble. We use Purina One Lamb and Rice as shes really picky and thats the kind shes liked best within our budget. She cant eat chicken either as it causes skin allergies. What are some brands that might be better? I’m okay with paying a bit more, but unfortunately not anything too high. Also, pittie owners, what diet do you have your dog on? I’d just like to see the variety of options. submitted by /u/Min ..read more

Best dog food that has no chicken?

I’ve been feeding my 2 year old golden retriever the acana red meat dog food but I’m concerned since I’ve read it’s a brand that may cause heart issues. I can’t seem to find any dog food that doesn’t contain chicken AND contains grain in my area. The closes I’ve found is purina pro plan salmon but it has hydrolized chicken, the other option I’ve found was chicken soup for the souls (the beef, lamb and salmon versions have no chicken but they’re grain free) and the Kirkland brand salmon food. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’d greatly appreciate it ? submitted by /u/queenchanel [visit redd ..read more

Topper for picky dogs

I've tried every brand of kibble: purina, hills, royal canine, blue, and others. Unfortunately, my dogs don't like any of them. I've also tried toppers like native pets' bone broth and nature's diet goat's milk. They like the toppers on their own(they prefer the goat's milk), but if I mix them with their kibble, they won't eat it. Every day, I have to beg both of my dogs to eat. I literary have to feed them with my hand ?. I'm tired of having to deal with this EVERY DAY. Has anyone found a kibble or a topple that will get my dogs to eat without having to beg them? submitted by /u/HovercraftP ..read more

Long living Dog owners Royal Canin or Hill Science?

I have a 4 year old toy Pomeranian with a very picky eating habit that I can't seem to train him out of. He avoids kibble, which is fine, I kinda prefer it. Instead he eats canned food from Hills Science, the lowfat chicken ID one, which he loves. It's been recommended by his vet, and he says it's to stave off pancreatitis which is found in most over the counter food (non-prescribed) because of loose regulations, especially in America. (And no, don't flag this as misinformation, we see it in our food too). The problem is that my dog is pretty iffy when it comes to food, so I'm honestly wonder ..read more

Adopting a 3 1/2 year old Chocolate Lab, which kibble?

So, after my 13 year old Yellow Lab suddenly passing last summer, I am now ready to ‘rescue’ another lab I came across a family, for their own reasons has to give up their beautiful Chocolate Lab who is 3 1/2 years old. He looks to be a healthy weight and has great vet history. He is a big solid boy at about 95lb. They currently feed him approximately 4 cups of Purina Dog Chow, various flavors I’ve seen varying opinions… How does Purina Dog Chow stack up to the rest? Are there any other valued dry dog foods that I should steer towards, without getting too crazy in price? submitted by /u/jcwa ..read more

Puke/ excessive grass eating on Purina

My dog did pretty well on Open Farm for a while. I did try Purina Calm and Balanced for her anxiety but it ended up making her lethargic and not helping the anxiety. I moved her to Purina One Vibrant Maturity. I like her energy levels but with both Purina foods, she is craving grass and puking in the middle of the night once a week. She has a wellness exam at the end of august and I’ll do some senior blood work to rule anything out, but has anyone seen this in their dog? She’s a beagle so I am sure she would eat anything but the grass excitement is new. submitted by /u/CurlyIz96 [visit reddi ..read more

It hasnt shipped yet i might cancel it. She had royal canine starter before. Is it okay to just switch? thanks in advance submitted by /u/eigentlich878787 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
