My new-to-me '09 St. Tropez has been a great project. Repair lot rescue that was remarkably clean (only 3125 miles!) and in need of little work to get it back on the road. Now that I've gotten a few hundred miles under its whitewalls (CST-6017s), I'm thinking about doing a bit of tuning. While the speedometer lies like a rug, the scoot seems pretty peppy. I can out-accelerate a 2021 Zuma 125 and beat it out on the top end, provided there isn't much of a headwind. I suspect it has 12gr rollers in it, but I'd need to pull the CVT cover to investigate. I'm thinking of a few low-key mods to get a ..read more

Check it out Buddy fans. After 12,000 miles the grips on my Buddy 125 started to get pretty skanky. Most of the shiny surface wore off, and my hands would get filthy after 20 minutes of riding. I saw this giant heat shrink tube on Aliexpress, and bought 40" of it. With shipping it was less than $5.00. I just installed it on my Buddy this afternoon. It shrunk evenly and tight with a heat gun. Once shrunk the product is nice and thick. I'll start using this on all my scooters, when it wears out, I'll slice it off and install a new piece. It comes in a bunch of colors as well. Statistics: Posted ..read more

Weird, never knew or heard that about fiberglass. JBWeld works well but I'd personally have it aluminum welded back on. Welding > fiberglass/epoxy repair on metal…but composite construction involving a woven material (straw, fiberglass, carbon, etc) and a liquid binder that absorbs into the material and turns solid (mud, polyester, epoxy, etc) is both ancient and cutting-edge. Have it welded or relace the case. Everything else is a band-aid at best. Statistics: Posted by ohiomoto — Sun Apr 21, 2024 2:02 pm ..read more

My friend uses Motul and swears by it. He runs pre-mix. I recall something about certain numbers are not recommended for auto lube/oil injection systems. I've always ran Yamalube for oil injection 2-strokes. Was called S2 or 2S. Had a picture of a Zuma 2-stroke bug-eye on the bottle. I've pushed my auto lube pump hard with high RPM's on my BBK'd Zuma with Yamalube when I had it and never suffered any oil supply issues. I used to have a bunch of Motul stickers/decals but think I shipped them to Florida when I gave away all my 2-stroke stuff and scooters. When I do spring cleaning in the void ..read more

Heat is not an issue with the fiberglass solution I mentioned. It is essentially the same as the JB Weld-only approach but with the addition of the fiberglass, making a composite material. The fiberglass cloth is used for hot exhaust wrap and can withstand far more heat. The JB Weld that sticks so well to the metal is the same stuff used to saturate the fiberglass. You use the slowest-possible-setting high temperature epoxy possible to get maximum penetration of the fiberglass. Statistics: Posted by tenders — Sat Apr 20, 2024 10:57 pm ..read more

It's a long shot but you might want to look into a welding shop for another opinion. You "might" be able to have the broken hanger part reattached/welded BUT: Note there will be a lot of heat in that area, so it might be easier to pull the motor for safer access. A good weld shop will guide you on the right option. I have a great machine shop in my area and the guy knows his stuff. He builds Ducati race motors for a privateer racing team, and specializes in aluminum welding as well. The JBWeld should work just fine. If there is a brace piece just grind it off. Grind off a little as possible ..read more

I think the part you had snap off requires splitting the case to replace, that is a 50cc in your pictures? So do what Dee Dee mentioned to avoid a huge replacement job. Yeah, sorry I forgot to mention it is a 50. The whole crank case is $576 on scooter lounge. Been busy this week and haven't had time to do much yet but I did pick up some JB Weld to start the repair. As I am looking at it now, where the broken tab mates with the case, there is a fin coming out at an angle, so there's not really a flush surface to even try and mate a washer to try and distribute the weight. The front of the ..read more

I installed this 110/80-10 on the rear over the weekend, and I'm happy with it. It's about 1/2 wider than the stock tire. The scooter feels a bit more planted. I could be imagining it. I went back to Revzilla to order a couple more. They are out of stock. Glad I bought two. Statistics: Posted by DeeDee — Fri Apr 19, 2024 2:51 am ..read more

Spring is in the air and it's time for me to resume sunrise riding. Well, it's 35 degrees right now, and it was snowing this morning, but we need to allow mother nature some flexibility... I ordered a Cheeky Seat cover and looking forward to seeing how it looks. 20240414_062249_copy_1024x768.jpg 20240414_074957_copy_1024x1365.jpg 20240414_074645_copy_1024x768.jpg 20240414_071840_copy_1024x1365.jpg 20240412_094727_copy_1024x768.jpg Statistics: Posted by Neil82 — Fri Apr 19, 2024 12:43 am ..read more
