Kettle Falls is a picturesque little town in NE Washington along the Columbia River. We have four distinctly beautiful seasons. Residents’ livelihoods center on lumber, schools, farming, and orchards. PRAYER REQUESTS:  Please pray for the couple beginning a VM pastoral residency here this month. Pray they learn and grow as they prepare to serve with VM. This marks our 41st year serving with VM. Please pray for vitality and vigor as we proclaim Christ and build up the church. Pray that the Lord will stir in all our hearts the desire to reach the lost and obey the Great Commission ..read more

Josie and I set up a church booth at the Greenville Community Easter Egg Hunt. To tell the gospel, we handed out jellybeans in “wordless book” colors. We gave out Bible-themed coloring books and a card with information about our church. As a result, four new adults and six new children joined us at church on Resurrection Sunday. Deer Trail is along the I-70 corridor and 50 miles east of the Denver metro area. Our town was one of the old train line water stops; now Deer Trail and other towns along the corridor are mushrooming as people buy property “in the country” or a home in one of the many new housing developments. Since Deer Trail has few businesses, most residents commute to work. PRAYER REQUESTS: Pray for a ripple of impact in the community from our Easter week services. We will retire at the end of June. Please pray for our congregation and deacon board during this transition. Pray that the right mis ..read more

Another church leader and I started a group chat to connect and encourage the men in the church. I have been surprised by how many participate, ask questions, share prayer requests, and encourage each other. We did a 21-day challenge reading a chapter of John each day. Through text messages, we discussed what the passage revealed about Jesus, human nature, and what God has done or expects of us in response. There was a lot of interaction and learning over the three weeks! The post Matt & Shanay Deneault, Cardston, AB appeared first on Village Missions of Canada ..read more

We held our second Sportsman’s Banquet, a free event for anyone in Worley and nearby communities. Tom Owen — Village Missionary in Tensed, ID — helped organize and promote it. This year’s guest speaker is a committed Christian who leads Idaho Fish & Game Education. The event included a delicious meal, a “mystery meats” game, and prizes. Most importantly, we shared the Gospel and connected with many people. Over 150 people participated. We are thrilled with this outreach! We are in a small community in northeast Maine. This formerly productive logging community is now a small town. The people need encouragement, comfort, and spiritual guidance. Wytopitlock Baptist Church has been with Village Missions since 1973! Church members often comment on Village Missions’ faithfulness to this area in sending missionary pastors throughout these many years. PRAYER REQUESTS: Please pray with us that God will bring more people to the church. Pray for wisdom in launching a men’s Bible study. Praise for the Women’s Bible study and pray for continued spiritual growth ..read more

We started a Good News Club at the school. We’ve had 10-12 kids every week. As we share the Gospel with these children, we pray they will place their faith in Jesus and grow in Him. We also pray for good connections with their parents. I (Travis) also meet students as I teach guitar and piano for a music club at the school. Gull Lake is a town of approximately 1,000 residents, located in southwest Saskatchewan about 30 minutes west of the city of Swift Current. With easy access to a local arena, ball diamonds, curling rink, outdoor swimming pool, and football field, many residents are deeply involved in sports. The town also has a very active seniors group and two long-term care facilities. PRAYER REQUESTS: Pray for our congregation’s physical and spiritual health. Pray for wisdom for the church board to lead our church as God desires. Pray for our spring and summer outreach opportunities at school and ..read more

I spent several days preparing for the Celebration of Life service for our church board chairman, Paul Marrs. He was a godly man who became a dear friend to our family in the two years we’ve served here. This was only my second funeral. I was told it would be very large, so my son and I set up overflow seating and a live video feed in our fellowship hall. Our building was filled to capacity, with 153 in the main sanctuary and nearly 110 in the fellowship hall. Paul was a deeply loved man, and he will be missed by our congregation and leadership team. A Heart for Small Rural Churches Without a Pastor
Village Missions of Canada

This is the fourth post in our series, "As the Lord Leads," telling the story of how Chris Schuman and Village Missions helped rural churches without a pastor in Canada. If you're new to this series, we invite you to start with the first installment, "A Single Woman Undaunted by Rural Ministry". Sometimes Chris Schuman helped to establish a Sunday School and church – as she did in Progress, B.C. At other times she was invited by small-town churches who were interested in requesting a missionary pastor. Middle Lake, Saskatchewan, was one of these. Chris visited Middle Lake Gospel Chur ..read more
