Hi everyone. Starting tomorrow morning, the contractor is installing the new Bosch IDP Premium heat pump. Over the last week, I've had to constantly stay on them to get the load calculations they're using to plot the new system and ducting. Initially, the scummy salesman I was using wasn't going to do any kind of load calculations, and instead just wanted to mirror the existing ducting system. This was a massively bad idea because the existing system is the entire reason why im having so many problems. This was about 90% of the reason I opted to have the ducts replaced. I called their sup ..read more

Hey all - just bought a commercial building that had known AC issues with both of the 4 ton, 25 year old carrier packaged systems on the roof. I'm getting quotes for Goodmans, Carrier and Trane...all with very highly rated and credentialed companies known for top tier installation. It's looking like Goodmans are coming out to around $16k for both, Carrier (or the carrier family line) coming in around $18k and Trane coming in around $19k. Assuming a top tier install on any of these units and all the same seer rating, what would you go with? We plan on being in the building for 10+ years and th ..read more

My mini split is making clicking noise its more obvious when its on sleep mode, any recommendations? Some people said remove the blowing wheel and clean it, noise coming from that area. Noise is much louder in video than what it is in real life, but the noise is annoying and i have the same one in my living room that doesnt make that noise.
Thank you for your help

I have a leaking schrader valve on my car and I attempted to use a removal tool on it, it was supposed to prevent the refrigerant from leaking out or needing to lose the vacuum in the system however the tool didn’t work it just wouldn’t unscrew the schrader. All of the refrigerant is now leaked out and I still haven’t replaced the valve, when I do get the valve out do I really need to pull a vacuum before I can refill the refrigerant?

I assume the landlord never got the ductwork cleaned like I had asked before I moved in. This was hanging from the vent in my kitchen. Now I know why the floor always feels dirty—even though I sweep every day. This fell when the A/C was turned on.

So my fan bearings are out and I’m looking at a $1600 repair.
Thats find but now they’re saying they want to sell me a $7000 outdoor unit because freon is being phased out. How important is this? I thought freon was phased out semi regularly. Could have swore it was a few times in the last ten years or so.
The system has no leaks and runs just fine. He inspected and told me it all looked great. Just that I want to get ahead of this phase out.
Can I get some perspective on this change?

Hello, I have a quote to add a new Amana/Daikin inverter AC to my 2390 sq foot house with 14 ducted vents. It currently has a York single stage furnace. Someone else gave a quote to add a York inverter AC. But another person said you can't use the inverter AC with a single stage furnace because the air handler isn't modulating. Is that true? The sales person said it would work but be non-communicating. So I'm wondering does that mean the inverter would be always running at 100% or off, essentially like a single stage AC? Or would the inverter compressor still vary, but the air handler would r ..read more

Like 28-31 degrees Celsius hot! Tried contacting landlord, they sent HVAC technicians but only managed to reduce the heat a little bit.
So frustrated from the uncomfortable environment I unscrewed the heating cover just to see if there was anyway to shut it off completely.
Pretty much wondering if anyone can help me figure out what I’m looking at and if they have any advice on what to do would be very much appreciated!

A technician from an HVAC repair company made a service call to my neighbor's home recently. Approximately 15 minutes after arriving at their home (and making contact with their unit), my security camera captured the technician enter my property, look around in all directions, and make contact with my HVAC unit. He appeared to have a black tool in one hand and a flashlight in the other hand. At first, he looked down into my unit. He then used both hands to perform some kind of action to the left side (facing) of my unit (unfortunately, this side cannot be seen from the camera). Before leaving ..read more
