Autonomous Generals for Wargame?

Dear /r/soloboardgaming, I've recently started solo wargaming as a hobby, which includes an operational campaign along with tactical battles, so as to give the latter some narrative significance. The campaign includes 6 generals vs. 6 generals, and as the solo-player I'm obviously playing both sides. I started considering introducing a system where the generals acted somewhat autonomously, like disobeying me (me being the "high command") or even switching sides. Is anyone here aware of any system I may implement? Has anyone else tried something similar? Thank you. submitted by /u/MegasBasili ..read more

Games with a high degree of strategic choices and variance/paths to victory

Hey all! Looking for games where there's lots of ways to approach the goal/problem/conditions/etc. Genre and theme doesn't matter, just that there's tons of choices available, though ideally not anything narrative-driven, and preferably not games where the choices go beyond merely permutations of the same one or three choices. For example, Dune Imperium has a lot of places to put your agents, but functionally each space boils down to more or less the same three options: get a resource, improve standing with a faction, place soldiers. If it is a game that fits in that niche, it would be nice i ..read more

So I just got these from game crafter along with the promo pack and Dungeon #2 for Iron Helm. So it looks great. But the hard part is the black cards, which look great. It shows oils like crazy. So I have cleaned them up and have them pristine and I sleeved all the cards. Issue is they no longer fit in the tin especially with all the promos. So I got to thinking, how can I store all this yet still show off those awesome tins? Well hop into fusion 360 and make a case. I store all the cards in the compartment and the pieces in the tin. The ret I’ll explain in pictures. Printed these bad boy ..read more

Looking for a new addition to my collection

I am looking for a new addition to my collection, want to try a new mechanic, something different from the games I have at the moment. The games I have and love: Marvel Champions Arkham Horror LCG Horrified Cthulhu: Death May Die Recently I’ve bought The Loop but I am still on the fence with this one, the first playthrougs were okay to know the system, but it seems a pretty exhausthing experience when you’re working on finishing the missions and then randomly placed cubes destroy your plans. I am looking for a game with fairly quick setup and not a big table space. Gameplay under an hour. G ..read more

Help me decide on Aeon's End

Hello there! Long story short I don't have many friends/time to play boardgames and I started to play small games solo (mostly PnP and stuff like onirim and bag of dungeon which i love to death). I always struggle between wanting a game with more depth and the difficulties that lie in them (setup time, footprint, complex rules etc) Lately I've been reading the manga "Destroy all humanity. It can't be regenerated" (really good, strongly advised for any mtg fan) that really got my old MTG itch to fire up. Now i stumbled upon an "offer" of Aeon's end fully sleeved + the expansions outer dark and ..read more
