What do you guys think? It's my 3rd portrait and I think I'm happy with it, I'm very new to oils but I love it! I'm tempted to oil in and then glaze more detail but sometimes less is more? And have I captured the likeness? Please let me know, thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Puzzleheaded-Pin2912 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi! I'm close to finishing my first oil painting. How do you guys normally paint patches of sunlight hitting various surfaces? I've tried three different approaches in this painting, with different brushes (and one with my fingers). I think the results like on the slippers and floor next to grandma's feet, and on her hands and sweater, are the ones I like best, since it gives me the greatest amount of control and seems to look good from far away and close up. Is there "a right way" to paint these? Thank you! submitted by /u/AndreLeLoup [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Mountains too purple?

I painted a mountain range with a combo of colors that came out too violet/purple. All the values and shapes are set. Can I simply apply a glaze of yellow to bring down color? submitted by /u/bisceaux1 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I’m starting to challenge myself with busier landscapes. This is painted on an aluminum canvas board. The texture was a little weird but nevertheless still fun! submitted by /u/astro_pixi [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
