Kenya has pledged to donate US$1 million worth of maize to Zimbabwe to help the southern African country alleviate a severe shortage of the staple caused by the El Nino-induced drought.
Speaking during the signing of eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between Kenya and Zimbabwe under the 4th Zimbabwe/Kenya Joint Permanent Commission on Co-operation, at State House in Bulawayo on Saturday, Kenyan President William Ruto said climate change threatens the lives and livelihoods globally, especially Africa.

The Government has declared the Beatrice road traffic accident which claimed the lives of 16 people on Friday, 26th April 2024, a national disaster.
The declaration was announced on Sunday morning by Transport and Infrastructure Development Minister Felix Mhona during an interview with The Herald at the accident scene. Said Mhona:
We are saddened by this tragic incident. The government has declared this accident a national disaster. We wish the injured a speedy recovery and we also send our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

ZANU PF has increased its representation in the National Assembly, after its candidates, George Mashavave and Kiven Mutimbanyoka, won the Mt Pleasant and Harare East by-elections respectively.
The by-elections were held on Saturday, 27 April 2024 to fill in the vacants created by the resignations of Fadzayi Mahere (Mt Pleasant) and Allan Markham (Harare East), both from the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has set the weekly cash withdrawal limits at ZiG3 000 for individuals and ZiG30 000 for corporates.
Central Bank Governor John Mushayavanhu said the bank will begin distributing the ZiG banknotes and coins to commercial banks tomorrow (Monday).
Members of the public will start withdrawing cash from their accounts on Tuesday, 30 April 2024.
In an interview with The Sunday Mail on Saturday, Mushayavanhu said the RBZ has already communicated with banks on the cash withdrawal limits. He said:

Former Warriors captain Willard Katsande says he is interested in coaching South African premiership club Kaizer Chiefs and Zimbabwe’s senior men’s football team.
Katsande hung up his boots in 2022 and is currently part of the technical staff at Crystal Lake in South Africa’s SAB league.

Vice-Presidents Constantino Chiwenga, and Kembo Mohadi, and other ZANU PF and government officials are reported to be unhappy with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent public appearances with Wicknell Chivayo.
Chivayo, a controversial socialite infamous for the stalled multi-million Gwanda Solar Project, which his company, Intratrek has failed to deliver, has been seen accompanying Mnangagwa at various events in the past few weeks.

A private school in Harare, Westminster International School, has allegedly pegged the rate of one US dollar at ZiG23, way above the official US$1: ZiG 13.44 as of Monday, 29 April.
According to H-Metro, the private college was exchanging one US dollar at ZiG23 last week and made it clear it could change. Last week the official rate was US$1: 13.56 ZiG.
Parents, who are paying their fees for the second term, have been asked to pay the fees either in US dollars or the local currency.

Cossam Chiangwa, the leader of the Apostolic Faith Mission of Zimbabwe (AFMOZ), has reportedly ordered his church members and administrators to exclusively buy and consume Lobel’s Bread products.
AFMOZ was formed by former members of AFM who broke away after losing control of the church and its properties following years of internal conflicts related to leadership, finances, and governance.
Chiangwa did not explain the reasons for his directive which has raised suspicions among congregants.
