Two men described as Chinese intelligence officers were accused of trying to obstruct a US criminal investigation into a China-based global telecommunications company, according to an indictment unsealed by US federal prosecutors on October 24, 2022. During a press conference, US Attorney General Merrick Garland did not mention the name of the company, which was also not identified in the charging documents.
