I have a friend I have known since high-school. For those who don't know me, that's about 40 years ago now. My friend, Chuck, had his father pass away about 4 months ago. He had been building a house with his dad and they were very close. About 3 weeks before his dad died I was talking to him about his son and the subject of Jesus came up. When you read the Passion narratives in the synoptic Gospels, you’ll notice that each of them reports unusual events surrounding the crucifixion — midday darkness (Matt. 27:45; Mk. 15:33; Lk. 23:44) and an earthquake (Matt. 27:51).  Earthquakes and darkness aren’t necessarily supernatural events.
