Everyone knows that water makes everything better, it is essential for all people, plants, and animals to have access to water as a basic need for sustaining life. We need to all pull together and conserve water so the UN has named March 22 as World Water Day to accelerate change to solve the water and sanitation crisis.
I love water, the refreshing feeling that I get after drinking nice cold water or being able to have a refreshing shower can be an amazing part of life. Unfortunately, many people around the world don’t even have access to basic clean drinking water. So for World ..read more

“Happiness comes one smile at a time, strung together moment by moment to make a beautiful life.”
– Tyler Way 11 years old
Happiness: it’s the one thing we all strive for in life, yet it can be so elusive that we search for it. We often think of happiness as something that just happens to us, a fleeting emotion that comes and goes like the wind. But what if we could actively cultivate more happiness in our lives? What if we could learn the skills and practices that lead to greater well-being, not just for ourselves but for those around us too? March 20th marks the International Day of Happines ..read more

Some of the groups within L&D have more staff than others. I offered assistance to those groups with a smaller quantity of team members so that they could begin using new functionality that had been upgraded as part of our LMS. I assisted these teams by creating post-course surveys for a few of their new e-Learning courses. These surveys were quickly posted as embedded hyperlinks within our LMS which allows our learners to be able provide feedback on these courses for continuous improvement.

The first snow of this winter season amounted to a few inches and made our roadways difficult to travel, especially with those that do not have 4-wheel/All-wheel drive options in their vehicles. Since I was traveling to town for an appointment and also drive a truck with the 4-wheel option, I offered to pick up items that may have been urgently needed for those nearby in my community that shouldn’t risk going out in our weather/road conditions. Because I offered, I was able to give back by assisting a neighbor–their needs were basic groceries/health supplies purchased, delivered an ..read more

The kids and I went through all of their clothing for winter so we could see what we had to buy for winter, we took everything that was in good condition but too small for us, put it into a big bag, and took it to our Marines Yellow Clothing Bin downtown. Then we went to the Dollar store and bought a few cans of Chef Boyardee and placed it into the church food bin.

The front office was quite bare on Dec 2 when one of our staff asked me if we (my students) would be interested in putting up the school Christmas tree. ABSOLUTELY!! In the matter of a few hours we had retrieved the tree from the overhead storage area, checked all of the lights, and assembled/decorated the tree. Operation Tree: COMPLETE!

This past year, I purchased a large package of blank greeting cards. I gave a package of 12 to a number of my family members with a note explaining the idea of “365 Give”. I made 12 copies of the explanation –
The package included a note from me, asking them to once-a-month, send a note to a friend or relative that needed a little sunshine in their lives. I suggested they think of someone, anyone that perhaps they hadn’t spoken to in a while, or just needed to know that someone was thinking of them. As an added gift, I included 12 $5.00 bills, so that one could be inclu ..read more
