As of last week, the state of Illinois will no longer enforce its law unfairly targeting crisis pregnancy centers. Per a report from Crain’s Chicago Business, “Illinois will cease enforcement of a new law aimed at deterring what the state termed deceptive practices by crisis pregnancy centers under a draft agreement hammered out between Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul and anti-abortion advocates who challenged the law…The agreement orders a permanent injunction forbidding enforcement of the act against the plaintiffs.” This news should come as no surprise: the law blatantly targeted preg ..read more

The Biden Administration Announces Its Plan to Attack Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers
Illinois Right to Life Blog

Once again, it appears the Biden administration has set its sights on attacking the pro-life movement. Just recently, they announced a proposed rule change in which pro-life pregnancy centers would no longer receive federal tax funding under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. This program aims to assist families struggling to provide for their children, and unplanned pregnancies can potentially create financial strain.  However, this does not imply that abortion is the answer. No matter what circumstances a child is born into, he or she is never at fault. Therefor ..read more

The Terrifying Precedent Set by Issue 1
Illinois Right to Life Blog
by Hayden Black

Earlier this month, Ohio voters officially approved Issue 1, which will officially make abortion a constitutional “right” in the state. The final vote was 56% in favor of Issue 1 and 44% against it.  The language on the ballot itself leaves the door open for interpretation, which could indirectly enable abortions up until birth. For example, one of the proposed changes is to  “Grant a pregnant woman’s treating physician the authority to determine, on a case-by-case basis, whether an unborn child is viable.” It becomes clear how language like this could easily override any protective ..read more

Missouri, Idaho and Kansas Sued the FDA over Chemical Abortion Drugs
Illinois Right to Life Blog

Just recently, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced that Missouri, Idaho, and Kansas jointly filed lawsuits against the FDA over its allowance of the distribution of the dangerous chemical abortion drugs.  Specifically, the lawsuit targeted the FDA’s 2016 repeal of certain regulations regarding the drugs, its 2019 approval of generic mifepristone and its policy to allow chemical abortion pills to be sent through the mail. Unfortunately, chemical abortions are only one of many avenues that abortionists are using to further their agenda. Beyond the horrendous moral implications ..read more

What You Need to Know about Assisted Suicide in Illinois
Illinois Right to Life Blog

Just like abortion, assisted suicide is an issue clouded by vague terminology and legislation, with the ultimate goal of performing it as often as possible. Originally “only” reserved for those with terminal illnesses, the never-ending expansion that its supporters so desperately want is already in motion. For example, see these excerpts from www.stopassistedsuicideillinois.org: “The definition of ‘terminal illness’ is arbitrary and includes patients who are not dying. For example, if a patient refuses to take his/her heart medication, that patient is then defined as “terminally ill” and eligi ..read more

New Study Shows Women Regret Choosing Abortion, Even in Cases of Rape
Illinois Right to Life Blog
by Hayden Black

When it comes to the abortion conversation, pro-abortion advocates love to point to extraordinarily rare cases to justify the masses. This logical pitfall has been present as long as the abortion conversation itself, and it continues to be a primary point of contention in debate. However, new data suggest that beyond the moral inconsistency of making exceptions for certain circumstances, the majority of women who do choose abortion in these cases still regret it. Recently, Tennessee Right to Life hosted its annual banquet, gathering prominent speakers like Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs, Repre ..read more

New Study Shows People Still Can’t Agree What “Abortion” Means
Illinois Right to Life Blog
by Hayden Black

Considering that abortion remains one of the most polarizing topics in modern society, one would think that the term itself would be clearly defined by now. Surely if they were to so confidently assert that the answer is not conception, abortionists would be able to clearly articulate what the “correct” answer may be. However, even after over half a century of deliberation, pro-abortion advocates still fail to define the word that they champion so passionately. However, a new study from the Guttmacher Institute which consisted of 60 in-depth interviews and 2,000 respondents in an online survey ..read more

24 Year-Old Woman Dies from Botched Abortion
Illinois Right to Life Blog

If an abortion were truly a “safe” operation the horror stories of women having adverse or even lethal side effects should be nonexistent. Surely a procedure that many are advocating as a constitutional right would match its original description of aiming to be “safe, legal, and rare.”  However, this is simply not the case. Not only is an abortion the unlawful killing of an innocent individual, but it is also extremely dangerous for the mother. Unfortunately, it is no surprise to hear of women being brutally injured by or even dying from abortion complications. Just last week, per LifeNew ..read more

Abortionists in Arizona Look for Ways to Abort Disabled Children
Illinois Right to Life Blog
by Hayden Black

As the abortion conversation continues in the United States, there is a particular moral dilemma that abortionists continuously sweep under the rug. Not often talked about is the fact that many pro-abortion advocates deem it perfectly acceptable to abort an unborn child solely based on a disability diagnosis. Though an idea as horrid as this sounds utterly far-fetched and in complete conflict with the “acceptance’ culture that progressives so proudly tout, it is a real line of thinking and a very real threat to the unborn. Just last Monday, September 11th, a Court of Appeals in Arizona hinted ..read more
