LIMA, PERU – It was a strong tournament for Canadian wrestlers at the 2024 U20 Pan-American Championships, July 11-13, in Lima, Peru. When the competition was complete, Canadians bagged a total of 12 medals (one gold, five silver and six bronze). Both the men’s freestyle and women’s teams also found the podium with the men finishing second and the women third. Canada’s tournament was highlighted by Maple Ridge, B.C.’s Madisyn Grof who captured gold in the women’s 55kg weight class. SANTO DOMINGO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – The Canadian team is coming home with 10 medals (two gold, four silver, four bronze) from the 2024 U17 Pan-American Championships, June 27-29 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The team was led by a pair of gold-medal winning performances from Winnipeg’s Kaura Coles at 53kg and Abbotsford, British Columbia’s Michaeljeet Grewal at 92kg. OTTAWA – Wrestling Canada Lutte is proud to announce that wrestling’s international federation, United World Wrestling (UWW), has selected two Canadian officials to referee the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Guelph, Ontario’s Marcia Chiasson and Kamloops, B.C.’s Demetra Koutsopodiotis will be part of a group of 50 referees from around the world who will officiate the Games.
