The Rust coding language, originally developed for system programming, has quickly made a significant impact on software development.
Rust, created by Graydon Hoare in 2010 and later supported by Mozilla, has grown into a robust language known for its safety, speed, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
It emerges distinctively as a solution that’s engineered to confront the long-standing issues associated with memory management and security vulnerabilities – a challenge often encountered when dealing with established languages such as C or C++.
But what is it about Rust that ca ..read more

Initially developed for Bitcoin in 2009, blockchain technology has significantly evolved, impacting various industries beyond its initial financial use. It brought about a decentralized ledger system that securely logs transactions. Ethereum enhanced this feature in 2015 by introducing smart contracts, broadening blockchain’s applications from straightforward transactions to complex contract agreements.
Blockchain now supports many services like crypto trading and decentralized finance (DeFi) applications. It introduces new solutions and makes financial services accessible to those excluded by ..read more

Smart contracts require a blockchain network to be launched onto and executed in a predefined fashion. You can learn how smart contracts work, what you can use them for, and how to code them in our extensive smart contract blog post.
Choosing the right blockchain network is one of the most critical decisions for your smart contract development project. One factor to consider is the level of privacy and decentralization desired for a project. A public blockchain offers maximum decentralization and security but might lack the ability for individual customization. Private blockchains provide more ..read more

I first met Bohdan not so long after he first joined K&C in early 2021 as a junior sys admin, recruited to support the company’s internal infrastructure and everyone using it. We had organised an informal English-speaking club hosted online once a week and open to anyone from K&C keen to practice their spoken English skills.
Bohdan was one of the first and most consistent participants, engaging in conversations on topics that ranged from sharing favourite and interesting customs from our different countries to whether Earth has already been visited by extraterrestrial civilisations.

Smart contracts have become an indispensable part of a blockchain’s full functionality. Similar to a traditional contract, they define an agreement through if-then conditions. The difference is that the conditions are coded and execution automated when it is confirmed they have been met.
They have favourable properties such as being highly efficient and traceable and don’t require a centralized authority to control them.
Smart contracts work in a predefined and straight-forward way requiring for rigid inputs in the form of met conditions to deliver a desired output.

I’m not sure how old Jeruya is – it seemed rude to ask. But she’s young. I’d say somewhere in her twenties.
She’s enthusiastic too – she quickly volunteered for this profile piece when I asked around if anyone would like to be my next victim.
It works out well as we’ll be working together – I’m marketing, she’s sales. I needed to set up an intro call anyway, so two birds with one stone. And I get to know someone much better from these chats than I would from a standard “get to know” call with a new colleague from my remote location in Sofia, Bulgaria.
When we spoke it was just a couple of week ..read more

At an international median average of $87,012 in 2023, Rust developer salaries are relatively high in the context of mainstream coding languages. For context, the average salary of a JavaScript developer, the language that dominates modern web development, is $74,034.
Developers coding in Java, a popular language and alternative to Rust in many contexts, earn even less – an average of $72,701.
Rust developers earning relatively high salaries, a fact subsequently reflected in the rates for Rust developers and development services through third-party providers, is a consequence of a number ..read more

Rust was released in 2010 as an open-source systems-level language designed by then-Mozilla engineer Graydon Hoare. Initially a side project, Hoare motivation was to develop a new language as the antidote to the memory management and allocation problems of C and C++.
He did and Rust was born. Hoare’s initial work saw the new language sponsored by Mozilla in 2009, released as an open-source project a year later and declared “stable and mature” in 2015 – when Rust 1.0 was released.
It has since become popular with developers (as of 2023, over 12% use the language), technical decision-makers and ..read more
