Wood textures in Vectric

Did you know you can change or add wood textures to Vectric so they are comparable to your stock during simulation? The wood textures are stored here. C:\ProgramData\Vectric\Aspire\V9.5\BitmapTextures. Older versions are slightly different. Anyway, you can rename the existing textures to something more unique to you're liking. Also, add new textures. Search Google/Wood Textures, then go to images to find many new textures you may want to add to the collection. Pull them up and see if... Wood textures in Vectric ..read more

Professional 3 axis routers?

We purchased a Laguna Swift 4" x 8" router. We are using it solidly on an 8 hour shift. We cut exclusively UMHWPE. We have had some issues: 1) Laguna is not good at all on support response. We consistently get 2 day response time. We ordered a replacement spindle and it took three days just to ship. 2) Have replaced the spindle twice. 3) The Swift is open loop control meaning it is stepper motors. The controller tells the motor to go to a position but does not check to see if it made it... Professional 3 axis routers ..read more

Garden Decoration

Made an old man in the tree pattern to make a decoration for my wife's garden. Board is cedar 7"x12"x1. Old man pattern carved at .6" depth. Bark texture carved at .25". Carve time about 1:20:00. I did have the power go out about a 1/3 of the way so had to restart it. Semi crashed into a power pole. The line across the pattern around the eye level was the result but since its for the garden don't really care. Stained the bark so it would be slightly different color that the face. 3 coats... Workflow using UGS / STL / Gcode issues

I'm new to CNC'ing, I've been watching a number of YouTube videos to get better at the workflow. I've used TinkerCAD for my design (as its very simple), I export as a STL file and then I used an online convertor to convert it to Gcode (I've also done this using Cura and Slicer). When I add the GCode into UGS I get errors, and it won't load. Errors such as Axis words missing for motion command: G92 I've looked everywhere for a guiding to debugging these types of errors, but I keeping... Workflow using UGS / STL / Gcode issues ..read more

Hi all, When I purchase my CNCEST 6040T machine it came with MACH3 and a USB interface. I have been actively involved in the CNC industry for many years as an Electronics Engineer, designing customised PC cards, interfaces, data communications, and just about all sensor solutions. However, outside this area, I didn’t engage with the industry. It was a couple of years ago when my friend and work colleague, Harry, retired. This left a gap in the services I can provide. Some of my clients... Probing for PCB engraving ..read more

So I went a little crazy at a government auction in Reno, NV. Among the things I purchased, is this TECHNO LC Series 4848 cnc router table. Now, I do NOT expect this to be a plug-n-play unit. I know it will need things, but I am a complete amateur here. Out of my league! Anyone with advice, or sources for parts, software, advice, instruction, etc. is welcome to contact me to get me started. COME HERE to Franklin, Kentucky to get me going and I will pay you for your time! Joe [ATTACH... Bought it .. now what ..read more

Hi all, I have one of these cheap CNC Controllers. I knew that It would require some modification, so, I'm just sharing some of that info... The airflow through this unit totally inadequate, and the spindle VSD over heats. Place a fan about halfway between the side vent and the end of the VSD as shown below. I used a 75mm 24V DC fan. IMPORTANT - drilling holes in an electrical cabinet can result in a... CNC Controller mods ..read more

CNC router build for cutting coroplast

Howdy Y'all, new member here and extreme newbie to the world of CNC machining. I have a fair amount of experience with CAD, but never in conjunction with CNC. I am looking for any recommendations on the best way to build a full size (4' x 8') CNC setup that's main purpose will be cutting 4mm coroplast. In my research, it seems as though everyone either swears by or hates a drag-knife for this setup. I think I identify with the pro drag-knife camp, but I have never gotten to play with one...
