I have read a lot of stuff ref T2D over the past few months. Most articles recommend no more than about 25g of carbs per serving, per meal. I just received, "The Diabetic Kitchen" book by Veronica Miles. First, she recommends grains and carbs as the BASE of your food pyramid, with 6-12 servings a day?? Many of her recipes are well over 50g of carbs p/serving, p/meal. Am I misunderstanding, or is that all WRONG advice for ANY Diabetic ..read more

I wonder if someone might remember the name of a popular low-carb online store that features all kinds of breads, rolls, flours, etc. I had one bookmarked and now I can't find it and I have googled my fingers off. I recall seeing it mentioned in another thread but now I can't find that, either!! Help ..read more

I get sick a lot, due to IBS/food intolerances/allergies, as well as being T2 diabetic, so I'm often looking for bland foods that won't upset my stomach but don't taste too bland or yuck, and don't make my blood sugar spike. I can't have foods with gluten, dairy or avocado.
I put Jello on the list, but I have to take meds with my food, so Jello or other watery foods are not really enough, unless I want my stomach to be even more upset!
This is a list I made up. Any other suggestions...

(Yes, I searched the forum so that I wouldn't ask a question too many had already asked. Unfortunately, most threads relating to this haven't had activity in YEARS).
So, I was diagnosed with T2D the 1st of February. I have seriously altered my diet, cut most simple carbs out, use Splenda in my coffee, eat loads more veg, and have protein with every meal. When I buy yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese, etc., I always buy the full-fat version.

Looking for info on how diabetics' numbers react to commercially-sold low carb breads. Are there any that don't cause a spike in glucose or is this mostly an "eat to your meter" thing and specific to an individual? Any input/experience appreciated ..read more

Shredded cheddar cheeses
Smooth pb
Scrambled eggs
Cottage cheese if on sale
Plant milks
Protein powder
Maybe vegetables if on sale
Sour cream
Cream cheese if on sale
No soups or fruits or pork or beef or chicken or fish or milk or yogurt . Due to high carbs, high salt, and food intolerances and too expensive.
I would add vegetables for sure but in the last year the vegetables on offer on reduced sale racks have been rotting. Every time. And I only get to check a few times a month ..read more

just this morning I read an article about increasing diabetes. I am convinced that a huge factor is this is the poor advice from 'experts' too many follow. certainly fasting does NOT work but there is more. my travel colleague is a retired nurse who worked in the diabetes field for 33 years. watching me when we travel has opened her eyes because she can see what I eat, and I then show her my testing numbers. she has admitted that what her office told people is false. so called...

A little over a year ago I went on a Dr. supervised Atkins type diet and lost over 40lbs. Of course, when I tried to add back some carbs I gained 10lbs back. I want to go Keto to lose the weight and be healthier. I'm confused because I thought Keto was high protein more like Atkins. Approximately how much protein should I be eating daily? I want to start by keeping my carbs around 30g a day and see if I can still lose the weight at this level. Also, what types of fat should I be eating? P.S...

My wife and I were on vacation recently and ate at a variety of restaurants. I found the following 3 places and meals that didn't give a significant rise while wearing a CGM:
Chic-Fil-A - 8 piece nugget meal with Coke Zero and substituting side salad for fries. Ranch dressing. Just enough ketchup to add taste to nuggets, but not dunk in it.
Zaxby's Grilled House Salad with ranch dressing, no Texas toast or fried onions. This is a large salad!
Five Guys Cheeseburger in a bowl, no bun...
