A Day of Progress and Breaking Down Barriers On Thursday, November 9th, 2023, NEW was honored to host Minister of Immigration, Labour, Training, and Skills Development, David Piccini. His visit was primarily to make a special announcement on rolling out new legislation about eliminating the requirement for Canadian work experience in job postings or application forms across Ontario. Food Baskets & Toys: How our English Learning Program Team Celebrated Ramadan This Year

During this holy month of Ramadan, our English Language Program teamed up with the Muslim Welfare Centre to distribute food baskets to our students in need. This is a part of the Project Ramadan initiative by the Muslim Welfare Centre that is dedicated to providing support to local families in need through fundraising and assembling food baskets. Project Ramadan is entirely led by volunteers (over 6500!). Newcomer Women’s Services, Toronto believes “strong women build strong communities.” And to that end we support immigrant women on their journey of integration and more deeply, their journey towards self-actualization.
