As soon as the leaves begin to change, even ever so slightly, so does my weekly menu. When the shades of green turn to red and orange, my refrigerator, once full of peaches, quickly becomes home to all things apple. Taking a trip to a local apple orchard is my favorite way to fill my fridge and welcome fall. Bauer’s Apple Shed is a charming family owned orchard perfect for that first fall outing. Located in Hortonville just a few short miles from the Fox River Mall, it’s the perfect location for an afternoon trip from just about anywhere in the Fox Valley. We went on a beautifully sunny ..read more

National Coffee Day in the Fox Valley

To say I love coffee would be an understatement. Since the first time I tasted my first mocha, the combination of espresso and chocolate stole my heart. The sweetness of the chocolate along with the bitterness of the espresso captivated my taste buds in a way it never had before. Now that I am an adult my palate has changed and I prefer the notes of carefully roasted beans, especially those with hints of floral notes. As a foodie it’s interesting how your taste buds develop and change over the years. Or maybe I am just finally tasting the depth of flavors fully? Our blog has been fueled ov ..read more

When I previously lived in Illinois, I became familiar with the popcorn chain “Garrett Popcorn.” One of my favorites mixes was their Garrett Mix, their world famous cheddar and caramel corn mix. When I moved to Wisconsin, I wasn’t sure if I would find a popcorn company that made quality popcorn, however, Faris Popcorn delivered. If you’re looking for quality, homemade popcorn that also supports the local community, keep reading to learn about my experience with Faris Popcorn. About Faris Popcorn Jeff Faris loved making homemade popcorn nightly after a long day of work. The business side of ..read more

Brews on the Bay takes place on select Wednesdays throughout the summer. Each event includes live music, yard games, discounted train rides, food trucks, and, you guessed it, beer. The beer garden is located in Menominee Park in Oshkosh at the Kiwanis Shelter. Simply park between the volleyball court and soccer fields. Then head toward the gazebo and take the footbridge that runs alongside the train across Millers Bay. At this point you’re sure to see, hear, and maybe even smell, all the fun. Wisconsin has a strong history of brewing and enjoying beer. The Fox Valley is home to many uniq ..read more

Community Spotlight: Hope Fridge

Feeding Our Community – No Matter What When I was three years old, my father passed away leaving my mother to raise me as a single parent. Although I was very young at the time, I still remember my mother struggling to support as she attended college at Fox Valley Technical College.  There were times my mother struggled to feed us and we had to visit our local food pantries. If it weren’t for the help of our community, we wouldn’t both be where we are today. Tragedy and hardship can face anyone, and this is something that I know first hand. When I found out about the Hope Fridge and it ..read more

My identity the last year has been that of a restaurant review blogger, however those close to me know my real dream profession, rockstar. In fact I went to college many years ago to be a music major at UW Oshkosh. Although my life has definitely taken a very different path, the little girl that was musically trained since kindergarten will forever love music, and music festivals like Mile of Music are the one time I feel like the long forgotten part of me is brought back to life. Not only will you see amazing music at this Festival but as many know the food from the local restaurants and fo ..read more

Seasonal Coffee Menu to Rival the Bread at Voyageurs Bakehouse
Nosh Fox Valley

Of all the trends that have come to the coffee industry over the years, one of my favorites is the rotating seasonal menu. I’m not talking about the tired ’ol holiday season peppermint mocha being rolled out every year or the pumpkin spice latte. I’m talking about well thought out, new, creative, seasonally inspired beverages that you may have never seen before or possibly won’t see again. Don’t get me wrong, the peppermint mocha and pumpkin spice latte certainly have their place in our coffee world, but it’s exciting to see new and different items popping up on menus all year long. Libations at The Lanes

The Howard is a historic and elegant event space located in the heart of Oshkosh. The building, built in 1927, hosts private and community events. On Thursday and Friday evenings, the basement of the venue opens up to the public for bowling, craft beverages, and bites. As you descend the staircase at the Howard, you are transported to a swanky bowling alley and bar. My husband and I came to the Lanes on a Friday night to wind down after a long week. We bellied up to the bar and were waited on by one of the Lanes bartenders, dressed to complement the art deco detail that surrounded us ..read more
