The Diessen pottery market has long since developed into an international ceramics festival. In 2024, it will take place as usual on Ascension Day. Over four days, around 170 participants from 14 countries gather on the shore of Lake Ammersee. “There were a particularly large number of new applications for this year, including many young ones,” market manager Wolfgang Lösche says. The jury selected 17 new workshops, including ceramists from France, Italy and, for the first time, Lithuania and Georgia. Ukraine is once again represented.  “The constant weaving of beauty into every single d ..read more

Even her office is different. Architectural offices usually highlight minimalism and designer furniture, but Heringer’s studio has the cozy charm of a shared apartment: under a groined vault, chairs and tables from flea markets, rustic furniture, antique Biedermeier pieces and a corner full of boxes. Floorplans in watercolor or embroidered on fabrics adorn the walls. A straw figure of a Hindu deity stands on a shelf – headless. Heringer laughs. “That’s unintentional. I still have to make the head, but there’s some truth in it too because the belly and hands are more important to me ..read more

It is true that big names such as Carl Orff, who composed “Carmina Burana,” and Fritz Winter, who painted the “Driving Forces of the Earth,” are also part of the place’s history, but Diessen has much more to offer than ..read more

The package also includes face-to-face meetings with the objects’ creators. Such encounters are hardly possi ..read more

Stimulating historical collections, current exhibitions and popular events such as the annual Grassifest in September combine to make the internationally renowned GRASSI Museum an important pillar of cultural life Leipzig.
