Knowledge Rich Curriculum  – It’s not about what you know? Right? During the bad flooding in northern NSW last year, I remember a conversation I had with my grandmother. This was because, she said, in primary school, she’d been taught to memorise all the rivers along the NSW coastline. Ma finished the conversation wit ..read more

Homeschooling Toddlers and Babies By Default I was homeschooling toddlers and babies by default. The picture you see here was taken in my first-year homeschooling. I was teaching a kindergarten child plus a pre-schooler but I also quickly learnt that I needed strategies for homeschooling toddlers and babies as well. I got through it, and I want to share some insight I learnt along the way. Letter From A Frazzled Mum Homeschooling Toddlers and Babies A few years back, I received the below email from a mum asking for advice on homeschooling toddlers with a baby on the way. Unit Studies Charlotte Mason Might Like. I was introduced to Five in a Row – a literature based unit study resource, at the same time as a the teachings methods of Charlotte Mason. For me these two methods were a perfect fit for each other. Literature based unit studies used short lessons, that taught a variety of subjects using living books. And Charlotte Mason combined history, geography and literature using living books. I was too much of a newbie to know there was a conflict of styles. I just loved them both. What Is A Unit Study? Typically a unit study is a theme, or topic, based te ..read more
