Hi, I hope this is the right place for this; I'm having a hard time finding a doctor to speak to me over this subject matter and I could really use some advice. I recently posted about this, but so no one needs to hunt for it, I'll sum it up: I'm fairly certain my sister is a narcissist and I'm concerned she's moved on from lying about her health disorders to lying about her daughter's, so much to where she is over medicating her for autism, adhd, and depression she never showed signs of... Recently, the idea of going back to community college came up and ... my mind, which overthinks alot, began to race. And when the thought of my prior experiences w/ colleges came up, it gave me anxiety. Thus, I asked my psychiatrist/therapist what `They would do in certain situations, such for example: 13 years ago or so when i was in community college, the math teacher was foreign and did not speek english well. He also required us all to have textbooks, which i did not know i needed a text... Read more ..read more

Not sure whether this is the best forum so happy for it to be moved if there's a better place Back in 2009 I was diagnosed with Depression with some elements of PTSD - this resulted in 6 months worth of outpatient CBT paid for via my Employers private healthcare. This ended when they applied an exclusion to the policy stating there was no future cover for Depression and other associated conditions. Roll on to 2022 when I'm diagnosed privately with ADHD and successfully titrated but anxiety... Read more ..read more

Therapists asking you if you want to continue?

I have always, after however long the therapist deems necessary, been asked by therapists if I feel like I need to continue seeing them. It always makes me feel like they're sort of pushing me out because I'm emerging out of whatever crisis situation put me there. I think just going and talking even in the good times is good... I don't understand the push to quit sessions. I mean... I'm paying you. Maybe they're just trying to focus on people who really need the assistance and not people who... Read more ..read more

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this or if anyone can offer any advice but here it goes. I'll try keep this as short as possible but give as much info as possible. So recently divorced, it even got dragged out a extra year because the paperwork had errors so fixed and finalized in June. 3 kids, in October they will 8,11 and 12 and they are all suffering as am I. And Their mother is too. I have been seeing a social worker since shortly after my wife and split in 2019... Read more ..read more

My therapist is garbage. She barely gave me advice, she talked every time I said something and never listened, and she ignores all of my texts so I blocked her. I hate her. She even lied to me. I hope she loses her job ..read more

Dealing with causes, not symptoms.

I’ve been thinking about how I’m suffering the symptoms of various issues. Here’s the thing. I feel that seeking therapy for the symptoms (feelings) is perhaps not ideal. Take a hypothetical scenario. (Ie. This isn’t me). Suppose somebody had financial issues, relationship issues, substance abuse, job trouble, an eating disorder and body dysmorphia. Well, you’d understand that they might be feeling depressed. They go to the doctor who recommends a course of cbt. I can understand... Read more ..read more

I'm 22 and have been in therapy since I was 14. That's like, more than 40% of my existence. It's big for me. According to my therapist and psychiatrist I've grown a whole lot and I'm emotionally stable enough they can trust me with the tools I've learnt in these years. The structure I'm going to is letting me go around december, they've decided (something about therapy becoming a crutch at my stage of healing- I agree). I'll still be on meds for a little while, but leaving therapy is just... Read more ..read more

A big flaw and something that could hold me back from achieving my goals is that I'm incapable of asking for help, mostly because I think I'm annoying people and also because I don't realise things have gotten that bad but would a psychologist be able to work through that with me and help me learn how to ask for help ..read more
