Federal officials announced nearly $150 million in funding to reduce pollution from idling trucks at U.S. ports. The Reduction of Truck Emissions at Port Facilities Grant Program will provide $148 million in grants to 11 states and Puerto Rico for projects to reduce emissions from idling trucks at ports, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). A cattle hauler and a four wheeler engage in a left-turn standoff at an intersection in this dash cam video. In the clip, a cattle hauler is attempting to make a tight left turn at an intersection somewhere in Texas when a four wheeler trying to turn right blocks his path.  Instead of backing up to give the truck driver more room, the motorist tries to pull forward.  A woman in Colorado is looking to be among the first double amputee females to earn her CDL.  Lexie Bader became a double amputee after a snowboarding accident resulting in a nerve disorder when she was 15-years-old. Despite her injury, she stays active as a model, competitive snowboarder, camper, kayaker, and Uber driver. Oregon State Police (OSP) shared alarming dash cam video of a car driver’s poor pass attempt that nearly took out two truckers. On April 23, 2024, OSP shared the video and a description of the events captured by dash cam: “A Harney County driver is incredibly lucky after attempting this risky pass. Vermont officials installing chicanes to keep big rigs out of Smugglers Notch

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) is trying out a new tactic in hopes of keeping big rigs from getting stuck on narrow and twisty Smugglers Notch. Each year, several trucks get stuck on Smugglers Notch segment of Vermont Route 108 in spite of lots of signage warning truckers that tractor trailers are not allowed. Many times, these “stuckages” impede the flow of traffic for several hours and result in costly fines. Escaped criminal stole semi in order to jumpstart an excavator according to a police report in Evansdale, Iowa earlier this week.  The semi truck theft occurred at around 4 p.m. on Monday, April 22nd in Evansdale, Iowa at a business on 701 Jones Road.  According to Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, witnesses reported seeing a bobtail semi truck driving away from the shop, over a flood control dike, and then down a bike path. Authorities in Texas recently seized millions of dollars worth of cocaine from a semi truck stopped for a traffic violation. Shortly before 5 p.m. on April 16, a semi truck was stopped in McAllen, Texas, for a traffic violation. The traffic stop was conducted by Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division (CID), with assistance from the Texas Highway Patrol. A 1996 Freightliner has traveled over 3 million miles with the help of a 77-year-old lady trucker who grew up on the truck.  77-year-old Jackie Gardner of Bloomfield, Indiana, has been driving a truck for more than 20 years, but her life in trucking started long before that.  “My mother died when I was four and a half years old. Police are investigating after a trucker was shot to death along a Louisiana interstate on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. on April 23 on I-20 near a Love’s truck stop in Greenwood, Louisiana. According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, the early investigation indicates that a truck driver and an SUV driver were involved in an argument on the I-20 westbound onramp at Exit 3.
