At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Emma McKeon became Australia’s most successful Olympian of all time. Her 11 Olympic medals overall broke the previous Australian record of nine from Ian Thorpe and Leisel Jones over the course of their careers. A failed attempt to qualify for the London 2012 Olympics was one of many moments where Emma chose to walk away from the sport, but it was her Olympic goal that always drew her back. Australian Waterpolo player Holly Young (nee Lincoln-Smith) made her first international appearance in 2009 at the FINA World League Super Finals. 23 year old Tash Bryant has had a remarkable sailing career to date, achieving landmarks not seen in the sport before, winning the U19 Youth World Championship at only 15 years old and qualifying her country for the Olympics at 17. In 2022 she became the youngest member of the Australian SailGP Team, and then in 2023 the youngest ever winner of the SailGP Championship after winning the season finale with the Australian team in San Francisco in May 2023. Ilsa Wakeling was a part of the Australian softball squad in the early to mid 2000s, and played in the Italian professional league, before making an incredible return to the side in her 40s after giving birth to son Hunter.
