The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage has confirmed that there will be a phased expiry of NPPR charges, late payment fees and the charge on property.  From 1 August 2021, the amount due for same will reduce every year until the liability and charge on property expires completely on 1 April 2025.  To view the details, see the letter dated 25 June 2021 received from the Department. The recent Budget has introduced a new Help-To-Buy scheme for first time buyers. This will provide a rebate of Income Tax paid over the previous 4 years to a maximum of 5% of the purchase price of a new home up to the value of €400,000. Pro rata rates will apply to lower priced houses. A Full rebate calculated on €400,000 will also apply to houses between €400,000 and €600,000. New building control regulations were signed by the Minister for the Environment on 15th January, 2014 and come into operation on 1st March, 2014.
