Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with peroneus longus tendon can achieve satisfactory knee joint function, but it has an impact on the inversion and eversion of the donor ankle joint, which requires postoperative functional exercise.
Objective
Peroneus Longus Tendon (PLT), a viable anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) graft, shares similar biomechanics, making it suitable for reconstruction. Controversy exists over whether PLT transplants affects the donor ankle joint. The purpose of this study was to examine the recovery of knee joint function following arthroscopic ACL restoration usi ..read more

This is a retrospective cohort study, the purpose of this study was to compare the radiographic and clinical functional improvement of L4-L5 lumbar degenerative spondylolisthesis (LDS) patients with anterior cage implantation and posterior cage implantation. This study reviewed 128 patients with L4-L5 LDS between January 2016 and August 2019. The lumbar lordosis (LL), segmental lordosis (SL), sacral slope (SS), pelvic incidence (PI), pelvic tilt (PT) and slope degree (SD) was measured for radiographic outcomes. We used the visual analog scale (VAS) and the oswestry disability index (ODI) scor ..read more

A cohort spanning 10.8 years showcases the transformative impact of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) on end-stage knee Kashin–Beck disease (KBD) in highland Tibetan patients. Radiographs confirm sustained joint stability without complications. Dynamic graphics illustrate a significant reduction in knee pain (visual analogue scale scores), improved joint function (hospital for special surgery scores), and enhanced quality of life (functional score for adult Tibetans with Kashin–Beck disease).
Objective
Despite the established success of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with end-stage osteoarthritis ..read more

With the continuous development of microwave technology in spinal tumors, our study, through a comparative analysis of the combination of traditional surgical methods with microwave therapy for the treatment of spinal metastatic tumors, reveals that compared to standalone treatment approaches, the combination of microwave ablation with pedicle screw fixation and vertebral decompression surgery is a superior therapeutic modality for spinal metastatic tumors.
Objectives
There is still controversy over the choice of treatment for end-stage spinal metastases. With the continuous development of m ..read more

In the four dimensions of demographics, female-specific factors, surgical history, and systemic diseases, we used multivariate binary logistic regression analysis to explore the risk factors for surgical treatment of lumbar degenerative disc disease in middle-aged and older women. We found that body mass index, genetic history, number of deliveries, simple hysterectomy, hypertriglyceridemia, and hyper-low-density lipoprotein cholesterolemia were common independent risk factors for surgical treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) and lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS)in middle-aged and older women ..read more

A 57-year-old female patient was diagnosed with a left distal humeral bone tumor accompanied by pathological fracture and underwent customized tumor-type total elbow prosthesis arthroplasty. After 5 years, the X-ray examination revealed a fracture of the distal humeral prosthesis (A). The damaged components of the prosthesis are extracted (B). Using 3D printing technology to design split-piece sleeve prosthesis (C). The radiographs obtained during the 2-year follow-up demonstrated optimal prosthesis positioning without any evident signs of implant loosening, periprosthetic fracture, or breaka ..read more

This is a retrospective study of 423 primary joint arthroplasties that were performed by multiple orthopedic surgeons at a single hospital setting. A unique intraoperative surgical irrigant was used which resulted in zero incidences of periprosthetic joint infection within 90 days post index surgery.
Objective
Primary joint arthroplasty (JA) is one of the most common operating room (OR) procedures, with knee and hip arthroplasties being listed in the top five most frequent OR procedures and while not as common, shoulder arthroplasties are increasing at greater rates than knee and hip arthrop ..read more

In clinical work, we found that, flatfoot tends to have a subtalar joint with a small Gissane angle, and a foot with high arch tends to have a large Gissane angle. The Gissane angle and calcaneal posterior articular surface inclination angle represented the sagittal morphology of the subtalar joint. The Meary's angle, calcaneal pitch angle, and talar pitch angle reflected the alignment of foot. They were measured in the weightbearing foot X-rays. The angles in different groups were compared. We calculated the correlation between the sagittal alignment of subtalar joint and the alignment of fo ..read more

This is an exceptionally rare ossification of the ligament, which appears to only affect male patients. The pathological tissue takes on the shape of an antelope horn, leaving a lasting impression on observers.
Ossification of the sacrotuberous ligament is a rare occurrence in soft tissue, with only 15 cases reported in the past few decades. We reported two cases of bilateral ossification in sacrotuberous ligaments and provided a concise review of the literature on this pathology. Clinical data, radiographic outcomes, and diagnostic and treatment details were obtained. This study aimed to su ..read more
