It goes without saying that I’ll jump at almost any chance to travel. I’ll jump at that opportunity even faster if it includes kicking off said travel with a staycation right here in Louisville, Kentucky. Cause who doesn’t love a reason to ditch your home (and the day-to-day chores that come with it) in exchange for a comfortable hotel? Which luckily enough was just the case when Cambria Hotels reached out about hitting the road with them to experience not one, but two of their incredible properties.
If you’re not familiar, Cambria Hotels caters to time-starved and ex ..read more

Truth be told, I’d almost always prefer to fly over drive, but when a solid road trip opportunity presents itself I’m more than happy to hit the road.
Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards is located a little over 5 hours from Louisville, which also just so happens to be my self-imposed limit for a reasonable roadtrip. Honestly, the drive was a breeze, and even if it weren’t, rounding the corner and seeing the property in person, for the first time would’ve made up for it completely.
What is Nicewonder
Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards is a resort destination like no other. The sprawling property is n ..read more

Big thanks to Experience Columbus for sponsoring today’s post! As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own, and I appreciate you supporting the brands that support me.
Oddly enough I spent quite a few weekends in my younger years in Columbus (cause it makes way more sense to date someone 4 hours away vs. next door, right?), but up until recently I hadn’t made the trek back up in easily 10 years.
Safe to say, a lot has changed over the years, but the city holds it same charm. I was more than excited to explore some of my old favorite neighborhoods (like Short North) and enjoy new-to ..read more

avid Hotels is sponsoring today’s post, but as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you for continuing to support the brands that make support me! #avidAboutTraveling
It’s safe to say after the last year (or let’s be honest two years) I’m always ready to jump at the chance to travel – even if it’s just an hour or so east of Louisville. So, when avid Hotels asked if I would be interested in checking out their hotel in Lexington, I gave a full body YES without much thought.
I’ve always loved visiting Lexington over the years. There were many, many a night spent th ..read more

Ironworks Hotel Indianapolis is conveniently located right off of North Keystone Avenue and East 86th Street in Indianapolis, Indiana, and for me, was only a short two hour drive from Louisville! Which proved to be well worth the drive.
Having stayed at several hotels over the years there’s some that stand out above the rest, and it’s safe to say that Ironworks Hotel Indianapolis sits proudly towards the top of that short list. Why? They didn’t miss a beat on the details of the space. The hotel is inspired by a time when nothing came easy, but they ensure their guests take it easy every once ..read more

I never pass up an opportunity to visit Chicago. It’s a quick one-hour flight from Louisville or a 4-5 hour drive. Neither of which are super daunting. So when the team from Hotel Zachary asked if I was willing to come up to check out the hotel I jumped at the opportunity.
My friend Kelly and I loaded up the care early on a Saturday morning and made the trek up. After a few stops for coffee along the way, we found ourselves pulling at Hotel Zachary right around check-in time.
From the moment we made our way into the hotel lobby we knew we were in for a great stay. The same rang true when we w ..read more

I’ve enjoyed a lot of what South Carolina has to offer. Like all the great food that Charleston serves up and the oasis that is Foley Beach. But up until recently I had never visited the Lowcountry. But to be honest, couldn’t have picked a better way to experience it for the first time. It’s like you simultaneously transport back in time and to another country. Life is slower, and I can see why so many people call it home.
My first trip to Lowcountry began with a quick flight to Savannah and an even shorter drive into Palmetto Bluff. My home away from home for this weekend trip, Mo ..read more

Let’s get real, y’all. Like really real. That’s what this site of mine is for after all, right? When the opportunity first came across my inbox to make a trip to Augusta, Georgia I was honestly like, “I dunno.” Don’t get me wrong. I love the South, but the idea of going to the small town South kind of scares me.
See, small towns and gays don’t typically go that hand in hand. But then I realized I would be heading to Augusta for Pride. Total game changer. So I called up a fellow work-from-homer and asked if she’d be down for a little road trip. The rest is history.
To be honest, I was still a ..read more

Trademark Collection by Wyndham is sponsoring today’s post, but as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’ve worked with a lot of brands over the years, but today’s partnership is something real special for me. Getting the chance to showcase a brand that has been part of Louisville’s history and culture since 1972 is definitely a career highlight. Especially since the Galt House is easily one of the most recognizable names in town and the region. About to be made even more recognizable around the globe as it was recently announced that they’ve joined the Trademark Collection by ..read more

Well, I’ve been on a lot of amazing trips for work over the years, but my recent trip down South with Patrón definitely takes the cake. Out of all the brands that I work with on a continual basis (Tomato Marg or Tequila Cold Brew?) they are hands down one of my favorites. Why? Because of the culture that accompanies the brand. A culture that reminds me of my time spent at Paul Mitchell and for good reason. John Paul DeJoria co-founded both companies, and his peace, love, and happiness mindset permeates both brands. I’ve been blessed to have met him on a few occasions, and I’m always blown ..read more
