The Eiffel Tower has been teleported onto Bergsjø. Foto by Emile Holba. With happy audiences and sold out concerts, the 19th annual Ice Music Festival is in full swing and now entering our final day of concerts. The sun is out, zero wind and fresh snow clouds on the horizon. Perfect weather to see the 7.8m ice tower constructed by Petter & Are Bergerud (we promise to hand the tower back before the Parisians notice it is missing). Eerie primeval sounds were emitted by the joik supremo Torgeir Vassvik, who’s voice and seasoned dreadlocks transfixed our igloo audience. With Terje’s persuasio ..read more

Our legendary Ice Bass Drum lays the sonic foundation to sound of Ice Music. Sculpted from freshly harvested lake ice each year, our bass drums dig deep - so much so, we recorded over 15 seconds of reverberation from this ice bass drum. The best way to listen to the intricate sounds of Ice Music, is being present in our specially built near silent igloos - which allows for very note to float around the audience. Located on Bergsjø, a frozen lake under peaceful dark skies near Ål, our festival returns in Feb 2024 to once again enthral music fans and people seeking solace in nature. Tickets are ..read more

One week ago our 18th Ice Music Festival Norway closed - leaving our igloo & ice castle venues, and ice instruments frozen momentarily in time - waiting for the spring sun to melt them back into nature. Celebrating music, art & sound installations, along with and a greater understanding of the science underpinning climate change, we welcomed a brilliant and enthralled audience who marvelled at the raw, windswept winter landscape that surrounds Bergsjø. Brilliant, near silent and intimate performances in our cosy igloo contrasted with the confident swagger of hip hop beats over at our i ..read more

Ice Music Pioneer Terje Isungset opened our 18th festival last night with a sublime and delicate igloo concert. The inside of the igloo was extremely quiet, so every note and sound from the ice really sung - leading to an intimate sonic experience that our audience loved. More igloo concerts are being performed today, tomorrow and Saturday. Very limited tickets are left, so be quick to grab the last ones. Please head over to our TicketMaster shop. The expert climate science team from Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research, led by Professor Kerim H Nisancioglu, arrived yesterday and worked into t ..read more

As our 18th annual Ice Music Festival draws closer, we are really pleased to offer extra fun in the snø with a horse and sleigh ride with local business Gjeldokk Hestesenter.
