I think that is in the mosquito channel? The area known for Mulloway. I though Mosquito was at the bottom of French Island opposite Corinella. I'm talking about the area between the very end southern tip of Boulton channel and the top of the channel running along the east of French Island. ie off Palmer Point east of the end of the marine park. Water in the channels off Lang Lang flows south on an outgoing while Boulton flows to the west. So between them will be an area of relatively dead water where it doesn't flow in a particular direction. Statistics: Posted by shane — Thu May 09, 2024 1 ..read more

There is apparantly a dead spot up around the north-east corner of French Island where the tidal flows split east and west. A sort of slack tide area most of the time. I know of some fishers who used to do well fishing a hole up around that area from Lang Lang but I haven't tried fishing the area personally. I think that is in the mosquito channel? Good question. I always notice a weird swirling vortex around Joe's Island. The water swirls there quite a lot and when driving the boat through there I always feel it shifting the boat around. It might just be the flowing water around the island though Statistics: Posted by Widsa — Fri May 03, 2024 1:29 am — Replies 1 — Views 10 ..read more

Thanks Erik mate, I lost about 3/4 of my gear in the fire but have enough to have a fish if I get around to it thanks. May last year I stocked my dam with Yellas and Aussie Perch, 100 each. I vowed to leave them alone for the first 2 years and that is this month so now I will drop a line in (tomorrow) and will see if I can get a bite to see how big they are. Of course the Cormorants haven’t got enough with the 90 mile beach, the biggest salt water lakes in Oz and all the rivers! No, they have to come here and eat my bloody fish! So I’m not sure how many have survived this far to be honest. I ..read more

Until the last 2 trips , 2 weeks back ,I'd been continuing to find good numbers of pinks in the jj area . Since August last year it has easily my best snapper season with the average sizes up . Gummy numbers and sizes down . Also been enough squid to for many feeds and bait . Have made no effort on the whiting or cod and now the weather has certainly changed . Too true mate. I had mine hung with a double pulley system on the top and bottom (4 pulleys). It seemed and not too much effort as long as I kept the Kayak level. I had to sometimes push or pull one side up or down to keep it level when raising and lowering. Electric sounds like a much better idea though..
