It’s a hard job, but somebody has to do it!
Last month Dani visited Hobart, the capital of Tasmania, to take a first hand look at some of the latest incentive tourism ideas from our southernmost state.
Although Tasmania is one of the smallest states in Australia, it punches well above its weight, boasting the cleanest air in the world, spectacular scenery and rich history. With over one fifth of the island classified as world heritage areas, Tasmania is a popular incentive destination for both interstate and international visitors who come to enjoy its beautiful landscapes, delicious foo ..read more

Getting Back Together… it sounds like we broke up. But that is what happened to our Business Events Industry… completely unintentionally, we broke up.
Our industry is full of like-minded individuals, crazy, creative types – a social bunch who know the power of togetherness. We live the highs of achievement which is garnered via co-operation and the interchange of ideas. We communicate, we collaborate.
So, while our COVID situation is creating anxiety and insecurity in our industry, we can amend the narrative that plays in our heads. The great success stories of the countless companies who have ..read more

Like many full-service Destination and Event Management Companies, COVID-19 has disrupted our workplace and slowed our operations down. The speed of change was rapid, suddenly we were all in this new reality working from home in lockdown. Quite quickly, we decided to take stock and evaluate what is important to us. Why is it we are in the business we are in.
Diving deep into a business self-discovery, one of the first things we realised is that we are not in this business to make money. As oxymoron a statement as that is, it’s the truth. We actuall ..read more

What they do:
The six-day event saw the delegation journey from Caims to Sydney, with a quintessentially east coast itinerary including a hot air balloon ride at Port Douglas, a visit to the Great Barrier Reef, dinner at Flames of the Forest, a Harbour Bridge climb, surf lessons at Bondi and an Opera House tour. For accommodation, delegates were treated to the best of the best, resting their heads in both Mirage Resort Port Douglas and Shangri-La Sydney.
Food & beverage:
The Welcome event had roving Lifeguard Waiters serving Watermelon Mint Cocktails. There were also creative touche ..read more

Like everyone around the world, the outbreak of COVID-19 presents, without a doubt, a major and evolving challenge. Suddenly, as Tourism Australia’s well executed video says “our world just got a whole lot smaller” (link to “with love from AUS video”).
As we face the obstacles head on, and while we all wait for the world to open back up, we are extending the hand of friendship and adapting. Against a backdrop of closed borders, grounded flights and millions of events globally being postponed or cancelled, COVID-19 has also shown us how solidarity travels beyond borders.

Earlier this month, some of our ID Events team had the privilege to work alongside other volunteers at BlazeAid, a volunteer-based organisation that works with families and individuals in rural Australia after natural disasters such as fires and floods.
“The bushfires might be out, and the world focus turned to the impact of the COVID 19 virus, but there are many rural families and communities still without homes, without livelihoods, and facing very uncertain futures,” says Karen Livermore, ID’s Director of Sales & Events.
“So our head of events, Claire Winn, three of our senior event man ..read more

Thinking about planning your next Incentive Destination Incentive, Conference or Event in Australia in 2020 ….. and wondering where to go?
Although Australia is the world’s smallest continent, it is actually huge! To give you some idea about just how vast it is, Australia is the world’s largest island, the 6th largest country in the world, and about the same size as continental USA…which is why it’s impossible to see it all in just one trip.
So where do you begin? As Australia’s leading destination management company, with nearly 50 years in the business, our team at ID Events know a thing or ..read more

Australia has been making headlines around the world after one of the worst fire seasons in its history. And understandably, many business travellers and tourists are unsure whether or not it is now safe to travel to Australia.
The good news is that although bushfires are impacting some parts of Australia, thankfully many areas of Australia remain unaffected and are still welcoming visitors. Even for most of the areas that were affected by bushfires in 2019, the threat has now passed and these parts of Australia have now reopened.
If you’re organising an incentive trip, corporate event or conf ..read more

Encourage conversation. Standing in front of delegates and reading content from slides is in no longer enough. Delegates want to interact and feel a part of the moment. Almost 1/3 of event technology created in the last two years has been around live interaction. Have a voting exercise, ask questions and listen to the delegate’s thoughts and opinions in real time.
Give your event a home to be proud of. Companies are wanting to be more creative, often adding themes and elaborate décor to their conferences. Now is the time to step out of your comfort zone and select a venue that will push bounda ..read more
