There’s one thing we all noticed right away upon arrival to Ecuador: its murals. This country has murals everywhere, and they are so remarkable! Just click on this Google search to see what I mean. This mural is very near to our home. If we head into Quito, we pass this Ecuadorian mural each time. I love it! And the first thing I wanted to do with it was match it, then take a photoshoot with it. Considering black and white with a pop of red is my favorite color combo, this was a pretty easy mural to compliment. Unfortunately, I tried and tried to find out information on this mural, but I co ..read more

Aww! We are traveling again!! It feels so good–I mean that’s why we do what we do for almost 25 years now. We became international teachers back in 1997 and have stayed with this career for many reason, but one of them is travel. With flights not really being a feasible way to travel these days, it’s so nice to hop in our car and take a simple road trip. Over the past three day weekend we drove about three hours to a place called Baños. Baños is known for its thermal hot springs. We stayed at the most beautiful hotel called Samari Spa. Our room had a fireplace–always a plus for a stay in Ecua ..read more

What’s Your Cozy?

We all have something that gives us the ultimate amount of cozy comfort. My cozy is sitting by a fire and reading. In fact I can remember loving this act even as young girl. Inevitably my dad would be watching a football game, yet beforehand he had started a fire. I’d grab my book—unless the Dallas Cowgirls were on! And I’d sit by the cozy fire with my book. Unfortunately we didn’t choose a home here in Quito with a fireplace, BUT that makes our weekend road trips even better when we choose a hotel with a fireplace in the room. Such was the case this past weekend when we went to Otavalo and ..read more

Photo by Jerzy Andrzej Kucia from Pixabay We are moving to Quito, Ecuador! Yes, that’s right!! After (what will be) 9 amazing years in Hong Kong, we are moving on to a new school, city, country, and time zone! (We will only be 3 hours ahead of family and friends back home in the Pacific Northwest!) Kevin has been an associate principal for 8 years now here at HKIS; there comes a time when the next step up the ladder is inevitable, and Kevin got it! He will be the middle school principal at Academia Cotopaxi. I also will have a major change: I’ll be the librarian for Kindergarten through the 12 ..read more

There’s really nothing spectacular about this outfit–other than it’s a take on the Canadian tuxedo but in all off-white denim version. What is special about these pictures however is that I just received my permanent HK resident card! Yes, after living here for over 7 years, one is able to apply for residency. As we’re about to complete our 8th year here in Hong Kong, we went for it! True it’s a bit of a novelty, but it sure does feel great to know that I am a resident here. I can receive the same health care as a local, I can buy property at a much lower percentage charge, and if I wanted t ..read more

Kremb de la Kremb Carving and Louella Odié in Boracay I’ve finally figured out what’s been bugging me: I don’t know when we will be able to travel again. We are a family that works hard in anticipation of the next vacation. It’s been Kevin and my way of life for over 20 years. It’s all our kids know, yet we have no idea when we will be able to travel again, and that is worrying me. Big time. It’s sounds spoiled, but travel has been our driving force for as long as I can remember. Now what do we do? Surprise! I could have chosen from many countries to highlight: China, Thailand, Indonesia, Ma ..read more
