I only got into skincare much later in life…. while everybody else was using advanced repair this and ceramide that, I was probably putting body lotion, or even worse, NOTHING on my face. Now that I have kids, and also being more aware of taking care of my own skin, I try to get my kids into a skincare routine as soon as I feel they need it. I do try to do this on a budget, because you know, mama needs cash for the ceramides….so I thought I’d share a few skincare options for tweens and teens, tried and tested by my own tween and teen, that may help you and yours. In this Covid pandemic world we find ourselves in, I’ve found that the first thing to go…has been my hair appointments ? I’ve got to say that I think, right now, my hair is in the best shape it’s ever been in! Though I am DESPERATELY in need of a cut!! These dry ends are screaming for a snip. That aside, I thought I’d share with you some of the hair products that I’ve been enjoying….in the comfort of my own home ..read more

By now, some of you will know that I try to be considerate as far as the earth’s resources go. I’ve cloth diapered, I recycle and I recycle water. I’m always game to support a brand/company that considers our environment. When I popped into Clicks recently and saw the Clicks MyEarth section, I was quite intrigued. I picked up a few items and thought I’d share my thoughts on those products in today’s post. What is the MyEarth range about? MyEarth packaging is made from recyclable materials, so when a product reaches the end of its life, it can be recycled instead of going to a landfill, helpin ..read more

A makeup post, chatting about new makeup??? I know….who am I even? If it’s not a book review, it’s usually a skin care post…. but I’m trying here. Even though I don’t wear much makeup these days, I never lose the itch to play with makeup…and even buy new makeup. I know, it makes no sense, and probably borders on some sort of addictive personality disorder. During the lower levels of lockdown, I scratched the itch, purchased some makeup and I was also sent some makeup. I thought I’d chat about some of my faves and which items you may want to ask Santa for this year….if you’re on the nice list ..read more

With me working from home these days, my makeup wearing days are far and few between. I do my makeup for the odd Zoom meeting and occasionally just to play around. In the absence of makeup though, skincare has become my new obsession…. Also, I am turning the big FOUR OH in December, so I think I’m also starting to chase the clock in terms of the point of no return with my skin. I know we’re in a time where we can live our best lives with whatever bodies, skin and hair we choose…..but I’ve just always wished for skin free of pigmentation and acne breakouts ? So for today’s post…. I’ve been tes ..read more

It’s no secret that I am a HUGE Elizabeth Arden fan….and I basically only wear their perfumes at this stage. Just call me a creature of habit! The Sunflowers scents are usually my favourite, and then I am also a fan of the White Tea range, but I mean, who isn’t?? Their other scents do intrigue me though, and for years I only wore the Green Tea Nectarine Blossom. Sadly, I think that one has been discontinued. Today I thought I’d share some of the new fragrances at the Elizabeth Arden counter with you….as we head towards the festive season, and we have to start planning our impending treats ? S ..read more

Raise your hand if you haven’t been to a hair salon in what feels like 17yrs at this stage? *Simone raises hand* I am in desperate need of a trim and a colour and and and….. Alas, without the benefits of my favourite hairdresser, whilst under lockdown, I am relying on good products to nourish and condition my hair. I was recently sent some products from Nature Box to try out, and off the bat, the packaging really impressed me. However, once I dug deeper though, I realised that Nature Box is not just a pretty face……. What is Nature Box about? Holistic beauty and all-round positivity. Nature Bo ..read more
