Oil leak on right side of engine, near water pump and oil filter
Kawasaki Z650

I recently bought a used 2017 Z650 from a dealer with 10k on the odometer. They had said they went over everything and nothing needed to be done to it when I was first checking it out. I know for a fact the oil was at least changed because I watched them do it. Anyways, I just noticed a slow leak coming from near where the water pump seals/bolts are. I found a couple old threads on here that seemed like the same issue that I am having, and am wondering if anyone has any input. Taking it back... Hi All, Hope you all are doing well. I am writing this post to share the issue I am facing. I had my battery discharged, so I plugged it in to charge it with the battery tender for 24 hours. Then, I installed it and made the silly mistake of connecting the battery from negative to positive and positive to negative. I realized it in 30 seconds and removed it, but now my bike won't start. What I am thinking is: Battery is dead... the fuse popped in the bike... I want to get your... connected wrong ends to the battery when installing ..read more

Hello everyone just joined wondered if anyone could help - my Z650RS frame has developed a spot of rust. After removing and treating this I hope to then paint the frame using Kawasaki's own brand of paint. I have two questions does anyone know if the type of black paint on the frame is 'flat spark black' ? And just double checking that the area once sprayed needs lacquering after ? If I have forgotten anything feel free to share your expertise this is new to me. Kind regards Poptones ..read more

Starter issues?

My 2020 Z650 wont start everytime I hit the starter. Usually its worse when the bike is cold but if it is warm it will stop and then trip the odometer and i have to reset the time and whatnot. Sometimes it will start up right after turning it on but then other times I will have to press the starter switch several times before the engine turns over, or I will have to turn the bike off and back on again. The battery stays around 12.5V when started cold. I dont think its a switch problem... Starter issues ..read more

Would the Z650 fail on the track?
Kawasaki Z650

Not currently a track rider, may go eventually, but from what I can tell tracks and races usually group bikes by cc. But compared to other 650cc sport bikes, isn't the Z650 pretty slow? It has great low-end torque, but its HP doesn't scale as much with RPM and tops out around 125mph. If a skilled rider were to compete with a Z650 against a different 650cc sport bike, would they be left in the dust? Or would it be put in a different class? Insurance considers it a sport bike ..read more
