It is an extraordinary honour and privilage to be awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Social Sciences. Particularly the opportunity to present to the 50,000 attendees including 9,500 graduating students at the RMIT Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday. When I walked into @rmituniversity as a 17 year old never could I have imagined this moment, in fact I didn’t even know such an acknowledgement existed. It was a big 2 weeks for Caitlin and Jess as the 2023 Australian National Championships and Oceania Championships were held back to back at the Anna Meares Velodrome in Brisbane. The duo were successful in winning gold at Nationals and Oceania’s in the womens tandem 1 kilometre Time Trial and Match Sprint along with Oceania gold in the debut on Australian soil of the Tandem Team Sprint where they teamed up with Byron Davies & Beau Wootton. It is with great excitement that Jess has been named as a member of the 2023 Australian Rowing Team PR3 Squad. Double SILVER at UCI World Para-Cycling Championships

It was a double delight for Jess and Caitlin at the World Championships winning SILVER in both the tandem 1 kilometre Time Trial and Match Sprint, a tremendous result for the pairing. It was a hectic day and a half for the womens tandems with very tight scheduling requiring the 16 womens pairings to battle it out with minimal recovery between events and races. 4th place finish World Rowing Championships

It wa s fourth place finish for Australia’s PR3 mixed coxed four at the 2022 World Rowing Championships. As the fastest qualifiers in the PR3 Mixed Four heat #2, the crew of James Talbot, Tom Birtwhistle, Al Viney, Jess Gallagher and cox Teesaan Koo went into the A-Final in a strong position. Racing pushed to another level with Great Britain securing a World Best winning time and the Gold. The Australian Cycling team has been announced for the 2022 UCI Track Para-Cycling World Championships to take place in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France from October 20-23. Jess will once again team up with Caitlin Ward to compete in the Tandem 1 kilometre Time Trial and Match Sprint. It will be a short turnaround for Jess who will compete at the World Rowing Championships just 3 weeks before the World Para-Cycling Championships. The Australian Rowing Team has been announced for the 2022 World Championships, which will be held in Racice, Czech Republic, 18 to 25 September. There will be 53 athletes across 18 boat classes, with five athletes as travelling reserves across the Women’s, Para and Men’s programs. Of the 17 athletes new to the senior programs, this representation will mean they will earn their McVilly Pearce pins.
